Does God require sacrifices?

OK. So you don't want to play. That's alright. I didn't mean to step on anyone's theological toes. if I offended anyone, I apologize. So ends this thread, I suppose.

But as far as the Old Testament replacing the New Testament, just remember that the OT is the SOURCE document. Anything new revelation must be supported and backed up by the original. Whenever someone has another testament or scripture, it is prudent to test all things in light of the existing scripture. Too many cults and abherrent religions get started by people who take the scriptures out of context or replace the Bible with their own revelations.

My feeling is that God is not going to judge us not on our ignorance, but on our heart. Are we truly seeking Him? Are we doing what we believe He has told us (in whatever scriptures we follow)? Most religions follow the Golden Rule: Do unto others as you have them do unto you. If we try to love God and our neighbor the best we can, are we not fulfilling the law? Their are so many that have faith in what they believe. If their culture, their religious scriptures, or their family forbid them from coming to Christ for whatever reason, don't you think God will take that into account? If hell exists, its for those who reject God, not those who are seeking Him, even if that understanding of God is flawed through ignorance. At least that's how I feel about it.

As for the Jews, they seek the Messiah according to their scriptures, the OT. They righly believe that the Messiah will re-establish Israel and rule the all nations. The Messiah will rebuild the Temple and put an end to sin, pain, and suffering. That hasn't happened yet, and it didn't appear to happen in Jesus. That is why they don't believe in Jesus. I can't blame them. But one comforting scripture in the New Testament is found in Romans 11:26 where Paul says: "And so all Israel shall be saved: as it is written, THERE SHALL COME OUT OF SION THE DELIVERER, AND SHALL TURN AWAY UNGODLINESS FROM JACOB: FOR THIS IS MY COVENANT UNTO THEM, WHEN I SHALL TAKE AWAY THEIR SINS." This is why I don't worry about my salvation if I were to convert to Judiasm. In the end, my salvation would come through the promise made to Israel. If the Messiah is truly Jesus, well then, Praise the Lord!

Do we need sacrifices? The answer is yes. "The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise." - Psalm 51:17

No offense taken. I just think you are on unsound ground (I hope you do not take offense.), and there is no way to argue anyone into a different train of thought. I have learned that that is the job of the Holy Spirit.

2A, I don't take offense. But what could be more sound than to stand on the word of God? That is the ground I aim to stand. And the Holy Spirit's job is not to argue, but to convict. I'm trusting God's Spirit to lead to me the truth. And His word is truth.

I think leaving the New Testament out is like standing with only one foot on the ground - not too steady. True - Holy Spirit's job is not to argue, but to convict. My point is I am not going to argue, debate, or whatever you want to call it.

Perhaps I didn't make my self clear. I DO plan on a thorough investigation of the New Testament. But I want obtain a thorough study of the Old Testament first. My investigation of the NT will be in light of the OT. Part of that investigation will be the use of OT scripture in the NT. The NT ought to be using the referenced passages in historical and textual context. I don't understand the problem with that approach.
