Dog not putting pressure on front right paw

Can you can send me the info in a PM on here, please. She is a lot better than when I got her from the pound 4 years ago, but I can't leave her at anybody's house alone or with someone there because she paces and whines. I haven't tired leaving her alone at any relative's house in fear she may destroy something. At home she is just fine without a crate, no bathroom issues or destruction of things, unless I accidentally forget to put the garbage away then I will come home to a mess.

I sure can, but probably not until tomorrow or so. One thing i will say is that I wouldn't leave her at somebody else's house, but rather get someone to stay with her in your home (thats what we did for years) or take her to a kennel and inform them about her difficulties. I really wish we would have tried the kennel sooner than we did. It really teaches them that you might leave but you'll also come back to get them

I would guess she probably strained something with the ice and snow. Although, I had a chessie/golden that came up lame and had lyme. So you never know. As far as the nervousness, I would get another dog to keep her company. LOL

The vet says it looks like she may have bit her paw a little to hard or just stepped on something and injured it. He gave me some spray to help soothe her paws and help kill bacteria. Told me to just keep an eye on it and it should be okay. Thanks everyone!

Ticks was horrible last season, I'm pretty sure they will test her for that next month at her regular check up. I would love to have another dog, but I feel I should wait until I find someone and settle down. It's hard dragging dogs back and forth places, or finding a babysitter.

Nope, just that Dermacool stuff. They told me everything looked good except the paw looked sore and tender. To me the paws look a lot better than they do in the summer when her allergies are at their worst.

when my dog was attacked by a pitbull they gave me rimadyl to give to her every 12hrs as they said the bite wounds weren't pretty even though they didn't break all the way through the skin plus she also had one of her toenails bit off by the other dog that was part of the attack (the pb had her neck the other mixed breed had her hind tonail which it bit off below the quick as they said they saw blood). she was on this stuff for 3 weeks as she was just in a lot of pain. I got some left over pills but will save them incase she has any problems again (being attacked etc).

Sorry about your pup, that sounds traumatizing for the both of you! I do have over the counter dog aspirin and the docs have always told me to give her some benadryl if the itching gets bad. I'm thinking she landed on something like a rock when she was playing and it became sore. There was another dog at the vet when I went with the same thing, but the owner said it was a sprain and his dog was given some meds. This man like many of you on here said it was likely do to the snow and the dogs playing in it.

Didn't know a dog would limp from Lymes disease.

This separation anxiety sounds like it has to do with human and not animal. Another pet won't work in that case

I think it is related to humans. Four months into dating my ex, I was at his place and since we both can't leave to the store because of the dog, he decided to go. I was still in the apartment, but once he left she started pacing from the door to the window whining. After awhile she finally plopped down in front of the door waiting for him to get back. My parents say the same thing happens when I drop her off for them to babysit. They never keep her overnight, they will take her back to my house because that is where she is most comfortable. It's like she's not okay when someone from "her pack" is out of her sight.

Sounds very familiar

Our dog didn't display the symptoms until we had him for approximately 2 weeks. That was the point when he had bonded with us. Then all hell broke loose.

How is your puppy today?

She is much better, Thanks! She is running around like crazy. If I didn't know any better, I'd think she faked being hurt to keep me home another day :)

Great!

Funny you mention faking

Our dog used to sometimes fake a limp for me.

Oh I believe you... Holly will pretend her face itches so we will rub it for her. It started because her allergies were bad that I would tell her to come here when I saw her scratching so she wouldn't break the skin open. It's so obvious when she is faking for attention. They can be so cute sometimes :)

Our dog had bad allergies too. Do you feed her a prescription diet? We did, but he started to become allergic to each flavor over time. It was also so expensive. Then we were finally able to find a few pet store brands that worked for him. A lower protein food will help with anxiety
