I see absolutely nothing wrong with what DOGE is doing according to this post on X. It makes perfect sense.
When I was working for a Government Contractor back when Clinton and Gore were in the Whitehouse... I was billing according to the FAR Code. I was posting a discount for a quick payment that was in accordance with the FAR Code. The majority of the time, the payments were a quick turnaround.
I actually have several letters that were exchanged between Al Gore and me about the government's failure to take the discount and pay early. I knew the office of the Vice President was working on ways to speed up the process.
The IRS didn't pay their bill on time in accordance with the discount offered in accordance with the FAR Code. So, I gave them a call. Now they could not ignore my invoices completely.... I used fluorescent colored paper. When I mentioned "the invoice on bright pink paper" they would say "Oh that's you!". So, I knew they had the invoice.
I explained to the woman who took my call that the FAR Code stated they were required to pay the bill within the allotted time to take the savings.
The woman from the IRS said "The IRS doesnt work like that, Honey".... real snotty like.... I replied "Well, according to Al Gore you do." That woman actually said "Al Gore? Who's Al Gore!" Well that just pissed me off... so, I ended the call and called the Office of the Vice President.... I relayed the conversation to someone in Al Gore's office and went back to work.
About 15 minutes later I received a call from the same woman who called me "honey". She said "I don't know who you are.... but your payment is now processed. "
I never got a late payment from the IRS again.
So.... No one has talked about how the Feds are missing out on lots of "discounts" that are perfectly legal.
Yep... I know... y'all don't like Clinton or Gore.... but the topic here isn't about them... it's about the law and saving money....
So... I am glad for DOGE.... lol.
