DogNapping Up By Almost 70 Percent

I have to admit...that is funny! But in all seriousness, keep an eye on your Doggies. Lock the Car Doors too.

They do say if you'll be running errands to leave the dog at home. As much as many dogs like car rides, this may be tough for people to do.

My Dogs live to ride in the car. I always take them with me if it is no warmer than 65 degrees. One of them is Car Aggressive, and won't let anyone in the car period. I always lock the door too.

I'm beginning to have a fondness for numbers.

Dog nappings up at an "alarming rate"! 70%!

Last year they noted 432 pet thefts...out of an estimated 69 MILLION pets in the US.

My handy dandy graphing calculator says that means .00062% of pets will be stolen.

You have less than 1/1000 of a percent chance of having your pet stolen.

Forgive me if I don't spend a lot of time worrying about this.

I am pretty sure that way more than 400 pets were stolen last year. It's obvious they made a huge error in noting such a small number, as there were probably 400 just in 1 state.

You cite the article as accurate, then discount their data?

Okay, let's say it's 400 per state. That's 20,000 stolen pets out of 69 million, or .0289% - far less than 1/10 of a percent, and still statistically insignificant.

Also you quoted my typo - it's actually less than 1/1000% chance.

If I worried about everything that has a 1/1000% chance of happening, I wouldn't have time for anything else and would drive myself insane.

Maybe that's what's going on in this country: the media is trying to drive everyone insane trying to get them to worry about situations that almost never happen. Ebola virus, flesh eating bananas, shark attacks, child abductions, dog nappings...

No wonder dumb####s like Obama get elected president.

If the dogs had a 9 year old in the car they would be fine
Especially if the 9 year old was armed with a durable, nylon-wound, 2-ply construction Champion Sports 8.5-in playground ball that can be used for kickball and a variety of other playground games (not dodgeball of course).

I did not say that article was correct in it's assertion of 400 pets. I merely posted the information. How is it I am "citing the article as accurate" by posting the link?

I ASSumed that you posted it for a reason, that reason typically being because you agree with it, or at least thought it had valid information, and wanted to share it with others. Was that not your intent?
