So was the boy a "victim" in the true sense of the word? Not the technical sense.

...I lost my virginity WAY to young but it was with a girl only a year older. Imagine having sex with a, what, 23 year old woman when you're 14?

Sure, we all fantasized about it and would have readily and willingly been in this kids shoes at that age BUT, what happens to you then? How do you grow and change and mature as a 14 year after that?

There's a reason it didn't happen for the VAST majority of us; not to many women viewed a 14 year old BOY as an attractive partner. Think about what it says about her, that she ACTUALLY sees what we then dreamed about; that we WERE, or should be, attractive to an adult.

Are you gonna go through the normal awkwardness, for both people, of becoming sexually active with a peer through your late teens and early 20's? How are you gonna relate to girls your age when you're 15, 16, 17 and on up when you've had sex with an adult woman?

How do you have a normal relationship with your pals when, on the one hand, you're super stud to them, but on the other, the world is suddenly no longer being stupid young boys; it's now a world where you've had sex with a woman. You're childhood is totally changed.

How do you now see sports? Band? Math club? Chess club?

You're now starting to, prematurely, see the world through different eyes and that ain't all good.

She should be locked up and that boy needs counseling to understand some things, first of all that he was just chosen by a mentally ill person.

My 14 year old boy and his 14 year old friends are at the point where they still giggle at the thought of going to Hooters for lunch... no one has any business forcing them into adulthood.

I think strip clubs...

...are an indispensable part of our culture where the free flow of artistic expression coupled with the free flow of dollar bills and alcohol nurtures an environment of mutual admiration based on what both sexes think most highly and appreciatively of one another.

As long as all participants are over 18.

She's gorgeous, who wouldn't wanna do her  However, she should have taken into account that 14 year olds aren't old enough to make the best decisions, she KNEW how old he was, so, she should have used better judgement.

My point; a lapse of judgment is not thinking something through very well.

This is something different. She's attracted to a child.

For me, no appeal. I don't know what she was thinking, I haven't really followed the case. Being attracted to a particular 14 year old doesnt necessarily mean that shes attracted to ALL 14 year olds though. I'm not making excuses for her but it still could have been a lapse of judgement.

My point exactly. "Normal" adults are not attracted to children.

I don't think he was a "victim" and I don't think most teens who bang an adult are "victims".

As a former teen seductress (isn't that a nice way to say "skeezer"?), the teen knows damn good and well what they're doing, and they go after it willingly and voluntarily. There is no "rape", just consentual sex between an adult and a minor.

I'd be for eliminating statutory rape laws EXCEPT that they give the parents of a teen skeeze the power to run off an older suitor. Doesn't stop the kid from having sex with people their own age, but it does limit the playing field a bit and gives the parents a smidge of control.

he was not emotionally mature enough to be involved. He can not make adult decisions.

...

Heck I know guys in their 30s who aren't mature enough to do any of that.
Exactly. So what's the difference? At least with the 14 year old, the woman knows what she's getting - a kid - instead of being surprised by a 40 year old man with the mentality of a teenager.

Back in Civil War days, girls were getting married and raising families as young as 15 or 16 with widowers in their 60s and nobody thought it was weird or disgusting.

If the roles were reversed then you'd have no problem ?
I don't have a problem when the roles ARE reversed. I might have at some point but, in thinking about it more realistically, a 14 year old girl who voluntarily ends up in the rack with a 30 year old man knows exactly what she's doing. And, in many cases, may have instigated it herself.

But, again, statutory rape laws aren't meant to "protect a victim" - I think they're more for parental control than anything. And, as the parent of teenagers, I'm all for that.

That was my next thought.

There has to be something mentally off for a 23 year old to be attracted to a 14 year old. I'm 24 and the thought of a 14 year is inconceivable. Is it the bipolar she claims it to be?
