Dr Spatz or Dr Rozran, Anyone ever been seen by them?

OK, I have canceled my appt now. They were quick when I called and they did not have me set up to see either of the Docs I thought I wanted to see. Not sure what I am going to do now. Thanks for scaring me away from them.
I think Spatz would have been ok, but to see her will be July 7th

Dr. Sabloff did my first knee and that one was the bad, bad knee. I really liked him but it was a haul going to Waldorf for follow-ups.

I am seeing Dr. Rozran and I am not impressed at all. I feel like I am caught between a rock and a hard place with insurance coverage though...

I have another appointment with him again next week and I just shudder at trying to decipher what it is he isn't telling me - I can't even get a diagnosis.

He isn't very thorough, his office staff perplexes me and I am not even sure what the short term/long term route of treatment is supposed to be. I am going to end up running out of PT time and referral visits and be no better off.

Rozran has done work on me, my dad, my mom, my daughter and Spatz has worked on my daughter as well. I have been very pleased.
Talk to him and outline your concerns with the treatment goals and options. When he did my knee we talked about several approaches and I made the choice as to what to do.
I had been to one of the docs in the Henderson group and spent a month on anti inflamatories and in significant pain. When I went back in after 30 days and asked him to do an MRI he told me he only did them on people he thought were serious about getting repairs done. I went to Rozran, after feeling it and wiggling the leg and watching me turn pale, he sent me for an MRI, got the report that said torn meniscus and fixed it...

Wow. This is just scary. I find myself in need of an orthopeadic specialist of some sort. I'm not exactly sure what will come of all this, but I have degenerative bone disease and the nerve canals appear to be closing up on c-2 thru c-6.

Reading this thread makes me wonder if maybe I should try to find someone up the road.

For your back I would recommend DR Griffth at Calvert Orthopedic. I have used him for my back and so far very pleased with him...I used Cirillo for a TFCC tear surgery and he left me with nerve damage, even after he told me I'd be good as new. Then after I went back 6mos later to tell him that the spot still is tender and shoots lightning blots into my hand his answer was well I did have to go through nerves etc..Ok then why tell me I'm going to come out perfect and when I didn't he turns it around....So now I will have to go aomewhere else to get it fixed....

I would also recommend the orthopedic group up at Arundel Medical center in Annapolis. Friend was in a bad bike wreck and they put him back together and he is doing well. That will be my place to go for my hand to be fixed..I have heard nothing but good about them....Good Luck!!!!

AND probably a pain to wait an hour to be seen .... That place is BUSY. Sabloff did my knee and so far so good the past 3 years. Wish I could get the other one done but I don't have time to be laid up for weeks.

Sabloff did my bebe's father's ACL replacement. The office wait was a joke! Most times we waited a minimum of 2 hours to be seen for a 3 minute appointment. The worst was the day of his surgery, and a black lady doctor (never seen her before, and couldn't tell you her name to this day) walked in an announced she was the doctor that would be doing the cadaver ACL replacement surgery. Wasn't like we could reschedule the surgery, the ACL had been ordered for months and had to wait for the right one. (He is a big dude at 6'4" and 300lbs. Granny's ACL wouldn't cut it.) That and they had already done his spinal and he nearly passed out! puzzy :killingme

Who the F changes doctors the day of surgery? Apparently the doctors around here because Rozran and Spatz did the same thing to me the day of my shoulder surgery. At least I knew Dr. Spatz and didn't mind them switching the day of my surgery.

Don't do it

I experienced excruciating low back pain and went to my regular doctor who reccomended Dr Spatz. Dr S wasn't doing low back pain so I got an appointment with Dr Rozran...a month away. I went to the appt, they did x rays and the doctor did some balance tests and talked to me. Never once did he touch me or do any strength or positional testing. By that time I had sciatica down my legs too. He prescribed motrin and physical therapy for a "gait problem" and sent me for an MRI. He never gave a diagnosis or explained what the problem was. He told me to continue working at full capacity. I scheduled another appointment for 2 weeks. I got the MRI done and went for the initial PT. The therapist could not read the paperwork from the doctor so did a general exam and requested further instructions from Rozran.

I picked up the MRI films and report on my way to my Rozran appointment and of course looked at them. 2 bulging disks, one was perforated and pinched nerves according to the report. Rozran never looked at the report. He looked at one of the films (15 in the packet) and said I needed to loose weight and learn to walk better. He did not give a diagnosis or explanation. He declined a refill of the motrin. Told me to do the PT and I would be fine. He also never got back to the therapist on my issue, she did some core strengthening, massage and heat/ice for a month. I still had the pain and sciatica.

Rozran insisted I needed cortizone injections in the spine. I have documented medical proof that I am sensitive to steroids and can not use them in any way shape or form. He said that was impossible and I was just looking for drugs. I did not go back.

I went to a chiropractor and within a couple weeks I was at least able to stand and walk without the sciatica, and with continued occasional treatments I am now as close to normal as I will ever be.

Rozran is a quack, he pushy and arroigant. After my surgery, I still had hip pain, he laughed at me and left the office!!

I've heard this about him.

I have recent personal experience with a similar issue with him...I wish now that I had gone "up the road" for surgery.

mAlice - if you are looking for an excellent spine doctor (not all orthos are good with cervical spine disorders) try Dr. Steven Ludwig at UofMD spine program. He is fantastic and not at all quick to cut unless that is what is needed. I have had 3 cervical disc fusions (degenerative disc disease) and so far this time things seem to be stable. Last one about 3 years ago (which was with Dr. Ludwig) was very major involving a corepectomy(sp) with a cage inserted and plates to hold everything together. But I haven't had daily, major symptoms since then. Website below (Oh don't be fooled by him looking like Doogie Howser, LOL). Its quite a haul (office is in Timonium) but WELL worth it-at least to me.

I highly recommend Dr. Patel in Prince Frederick. I was very pleased with my knee replacemnt that he did. He was highly recommended to me by others. I also would like to add that I had very bad encounters with Dr. Spatz/Rozran billing staff and will never set foot in that place again.

Dr. Patel is awesome.

Dr. Cirillo likes to overfill his patients with water (shoulder scopes, etc).

Dr. Herron is good but doesn't talk to the family of the patient.

Dr. Bennett UMD

I would highly recommend Dr. Craig Bennett at the University of Maryland. He did my ACL replacement 2 years ago. After Dr. Spatz told me I had tendinitis.
