Progress.

I made her drive it alone today to visit a girlfriend and she ended up driving it to work. Her workplace is on the craziest stretch of route 13 you can find. (about the same as 235)

This is what she's driving: :jameo:

She drives like an old lady, and the darn thing is SO small.

Still...progress.

Those a great little cars.......quick, and will last a long time......:yay:

My mom taught me. I'm good now, but for a long while I was petrified about people pulling up too close to me at a red light (especially when it was on an incline).

Now I'm awesome :diva:

20 years ago they were so much fun to drive. Fast, great gas mileage, etc.

Scary to drive now with the big SUV's and cell phone talkers not paying attention to what is going on around them.

Roll back on them and have them pay for a new bumper/paint job. :lmao:

I was so scared, one time at the incline at St. Charles Pkwy and Rt. 5. I thought about putting on my emergency break to get out and ask the tailgater to move back. :lmao:

I have never even noticed an incline at that intersection, now for a fun incline go up branch avenue past naylor road towards penn ave. Having to stop at the light anywhere on that hill still worries me when the road are wet or icy.

And you always get the fun schmucks that get right on your bumper trying to see if there is any way to squeeze their car in 3 feet to go right at that light

I have no problem rolling down the window or getting out and telling them we have a new driver.

Worst memory for me (with me) was in Germantown MD on a very steep incline. I started drifting backwards as the engine revved. The driver was able to back off of me. I pulled up the emergency brake, stepped on the gas and popped the clutch as I let off the emergency brake. Still would have been their fault if I hit them. They were about two feet behind me.

Burning rubber! WOO! I learned everything about driving manual then.

Daughter took her first road trip today...rotary and everything alone, and then into Memorial Day beach traffic. She called when she got there and all was fine.

I'm a mother and I worry about her in a small manual. I would even worry about her in my big SUV.

What memories this teaching experience has brought back.

In my little hometown we had one hill - it was and still is named Turkey Loper Hill. VERY steep and short. Houses had to built on a slant and they parked with wheels turned into the curb. Didn't take me long to learn the emergency brake was very necessary when you had to stop at the top.
