On 8/30/04 Corporal J. Shoemaker was patrolling south on Maryland Rt. 235, Lexington Park, Maryland when a vehicle passed him in excess of 100 Miles Per Hour. Cpl. Shoemaker began to pace the vehicle and determined the vehicle's speed to be 135 Miles Per Hour. :yikes:

The vehicle failed to stop for the red traffic signal at McArthur Blvd. and continued south on Rt. 235. The vehicle then attempted to turn onto Pegg Road. The operator, Charles A. Runyan, Jr. age 28, of Lexington Park, Maryland failed to negotiate the turn and struck the curb causing major damage to the vehicle.

Mr. Runyan was determined to be under the influence of an alcoholic beverage and had no driver's license. Mr. Runyan was unable to perform the requested field sobriety tests. Mr. Runyan was subsequently placed under arrest and charged with Driving While under the Influence of Alcohol, Driving while Intoxicated, Driving Without a License, Driving 135 Mph in a 40 Mph Zone, Failing to Stop for a Red Traffic Signal, and Reckless Driving. Mr. Runyan was incarcerated in the Detention Center pending an appearance before the District Court Commissioner.

Doubt it, probably drank the rest since his passenger didn't ask for it back.

Would THIS face lie?
I sure wouldn"t want to be in his shoes.....Suppose that when he ran that red light going that fast a family was pulling out.....Boy, that could have been messy.....Glad they caught him and I hope they throw the book at him..... :yeahthat:

 This cannot be right, people who don't have driver's licenses don't drive right? Just like criminals don't own guns?

Geez, and I get nervous when I go over 70.

 Drunk or not, why in he!! would anybody be doing 100 plus mph down Rte 235, day or night.
The guy is 28, so he's not a juvenile, should have some smarts about him by now.
There are things you can get away with, and some you cannot; one of them sure as he!! ain't blasting down Rte 235 at that speed.

Plus, he obviously hadn't read the thread here on somd.com about police traps in the county area.

Sucker!

If I am not mistaken, 40+ MPH over the limit is an automatic suspension of your license. Sounds like we need Ken to research this one...
Not sure but driving 30 MPH over is a 5 pointer, moving violation contributing to an accident is 3, failure to stop for a red light is 2 more, driving while impaired is 8, driving while under the influence is 12, driving without a license is 5, reckless driving is 4 more, and that should be about 24 on a 12 point system. Seems like an immediate suspension (if he did have a license to begin with) would be appropriate.

I don't think the guy had a driver's license, in that case should be a long time before he is able to obtain one. :ohwell:

:twitch: It sounds to me like this fool just effed up his life for the time being; Like if you have a job, you need a way to get to there and back.
Sure, there's public transportation, but that can be expensive, and they can't always take you where you need to go.
It might also be a little rough on you if you're trying to go out on a date with your sweetie, too. Could be a challenge trying to make out with your girl on the backseat of the bus. :killingme
