So what other coercive tactics do you use after being told no, to get people to consent to your search ....
so if you already have the mutt in your cruiser do you automatically get the dog out and start walking him around the car ..... ? while your partner writes the ticket ....
I still take issue with dogs .... since I cannot question the dog, how do I know he really found something ... or you just were not coaching the mutt to bark ....
well I cannot pull up the video or the Cookeville Tenn. Cop planting drugs, it seems the video has been pulled from YouTube .... and he was cleared .... seems dude admitted to having some drugs on him .... one wonders if he just copped to the possession charge .... since the Professional had to search the same pocket 4 times before finding the weed .....
What exactly is it you want police officers to do? Everything I am talking about is being done within the law. If a police officer coerces you to do something you don't want to do by threatening, or promising something, then he/she has operated outside of the law.
If a police officer plants drugs on a person, no matter who the person is, that police officer should receive a penalty 10 times worse than any other drug dealers penalty.
I am talking about operating within the rules, and you are making assumptions of officers operating outside of the rules. If an officer is operating outside of the rules I believe he/she should be punished. But that isn't what my posts were about.
As far as the dogs, just like every other tool, fingerprints, dna, forensic evidence, blood spatter experts, medical experts etc; You bring your expert we bring ours. It's up to a judge and jury to examine that evidence. However, I think if the dog sniffs dope in your car, it would have to be a cop with pretty good intuition to "coaching the mutt to bark ". And yes, my partner can move the dog around while I write the ticket.
The constitution protects you from unreasonable searches and siezures. Walking a dog around a car is not unreasonable.
