America's favorite and least-favorite vegetables

America's favorite vegetables:
  • Corn (91 percent)
  • Potatoes (91 percent)
  • Carrots (89 percent)
  • Tomatoes (89 percent)
  • Onion (87 percent)
  • Green beans (87 percent)
  • Cucumbers (86 percent)
  • Broccoli (85 percent)
  • Cabbage (84 percent)
  • Peas (83 percent)
America's least favorite veggies:
  • Turnip (27 percent)
  • Beets (26 percent)
  • Radish (23 percent)
  • Brussels sprouts (21 percent)
  • Artichoke (20 percent)
  • Eggplant (20 percent)
  • Butternut squash (20 percent)
  • Zucchini (18 percent)
  • Mushroom (18 percent)
  • Asparagus (16 percent)
But that’s not all the survey determined. One of the most shocking revelations within the results was that over 25 percent of respondents say they never eat vegetables.

And of those who do eat vegetables, only a third of their meals (36 percent) actually include a vegetable as part of it.

I love 'em all except radishes - the round, red ones. I do love Daikon radishes, though. And I am with @Kyle - love, love, LOVE asparagus.

My sister is another matter. Her favorite vegetable? Green M & M's.

Dont' know what a daikon is but there arent' any that I don't like. It's like that for all vegetables for that matter.

There are some I just don't choose but the only one I dislike is okra.

Daikon radishes, often called Oriental radishes, are a mild winter radish that look like white carrots.

I forgot about okra. It's another one I will tolerate in small doses, such as part of gumbo. Other than that, nope. Don't like it fried, pickled, or any other way. :barf:

All my favorite veggies are on the least liked list  #1 being beets! Boil them or roast them, S&P, and some butter mmhmm. Can't get the family on board though. I think a lot of the least liked ones are easy to cook wrong or overcooked mush and that's why people aren't a fan of them.

I follow a couple cooking forums/Facebook groups and there's always some n00b in the group posting a pic of their "homemade" dinner consisting of a meat and 2-3 starches with bread rolls, or something. :shocking: carb-overload! where are your veggies at?! Everything on your plate is white and brown! This is not a balanced meal. Huge pet peeve. I think my stepkids had tried and eaten maybe 5 basic veggies before I'd met them. Now they're practically veggie connoisseurs. I go out of my way to find appealing and new ways to mix up the veggies.

That is what ketchup is for...improves taste and color! :yay:
