Either Woody or Jake ...

Nanny Pam

************
Got into the trash and ate the plastic wrapper from sausage. I clearly remember putting the wrapper into the trash and remembering that it didn't go completely down in the trash can. The kids were waiting for their lunch and I was busy. When I went to the trash can....only a minute or 2 after putting it in there, it was GONE. I do not know if it was Jake or Woody who ate it. I was in the back yard today, looking for poop piles with a white wrapper in it, but no luck. My question is would I see the white wrapper? How long should it take to pass it? The research I did on this topic said to watch for signs of pain. Nothing yet. Both dogs seem fine.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Nanny, since it's a 50/50 that this could either end up as a successful "pass" or a deadly blockage, I would recommend you call your vet's office for advice on what to look for... I hope everything comes out okay...:ohwell:

I wouldn't worry. Biscuit was the great panty raider when he was young. He always barfed them. Sometimes it would take 3 weeks. He used to grab the clean panites of the drying rack. I always worried about a blockage and watched him carefully. More than likely, he will pass the paper. I assume you have a smaller yard than I do and you can keep track of what "comes out."

Just keep an eye out for vomiting, straining or if he starts to act like he doesn't feel well (either of them). If that happens, give the vet a call. He may pass it...partially..and then you may need to to the "paper towel thing." :lmao:

Does my butt look big?
I would hope you would see it by tomorrow..YES you would see it..you need to be checking stools and watching for one of them not to be feeling well....or in pain..SHOULD pass ok but you NEED to watch them and keep looking for the wrapper..fun job

I want you guys to know that my cats have never raided the trash. They eat their cat crunchies and that's it.

I'm not 100% sure it was the dogs! I just know that when I went back to push it to the bottom of the trash can, it was gone.

And you know what I was just thinking...it had one of those metal crimp things at the end of it.

Well, if you're going to use oil, I would recommend mineral or vegetable oil. I doubt you'll have a problem....we had a dog eat a whole bag full of hershey kisses and crap out the wrappers a few days later. She didn't miss a beat. They sure do some crazy things!

I am worried because it was the whole plastic wrapper with the metal crimped ends. That's alot of plastic!

Keep a close on on those doggies. I have a friend who almost lost his Golden after he ate a VHS tape. Dog actually died on the way to the vet. He's ok now. Can you be with them for the next 24hrs?
