The one in Calvert was not picking up it was just a recording....I went to Waldorf and what a major mistake. My big dog got his foot caught in the back door....someone knocked, he was trying to get out to see who it was, I was trying to pull him back and closed the door....it was all my fault I closed the door on his foot. His one toe is cut pretty bad.

I took him to Waldorf..........they looked at him and gave me an estimate of 1200 and wanted it in full tonight......that is my rent payment. I asked if I could pay some tonight and the rest over a couple of weeks.....no way. They bandaged it and charged me 132.00

I am so upset now my dog has to wait to see his vet tomorrow and I feel like the Waldorf Vet basically raped me and my dog.....

Never again and I am calling the Better Business Bureau

A few years back, the morons at Waldorf KILLED my dog. She had an ear problem (cocker spaniel) and they were going to clean her ears out. We told them that she could not go under general anesthesia because she had recently drank and ate a whole bunch of water. They assured us that they would not and would wait the appropriate time span and call us in several hours. Well, the freakin morons put her under and it caused her to have seizures and she would not come to and eventually, she had to be put down. THEN, they tried to give us a 2000$ bill and tell us that they would be cremating our dog. [Insult to injury] We told them to stick it and that we would be picking up her remains and burying her.

Should have reported them to the BBB...

Forgot to tell you in the above message that I'm sorry about your awful experience and I hope your doggie gets well soon.

If they had given me a price of half of what they quoted then I could have pulled that together but 1200 for a couple of stitches???? They wanted to keep him overnight and do additional tests because of his age (his is 10 and healthy as a horse)

How do people come up with that kind of money if their pet was near death????

And to add insult to injury they asked me if I wanted to apply for credit to pay the bill.....wtf?????

The final bill was 102 to look at him (and only look) and then they charged me 29 to bandage the wound........

If I had known all of this I could have done that at home for free.

He is currently sleeping and crying every now and then. It has started to bleed through the bandage. I put a sock over the bandage. I am calling his vet at 8am when they open and taking him up the road to be taken care of.

I am beyond livid.

I took my boxer Sasha there after she got hit by a car. Both front legs run over. She obviously needed serious help. Well they wanted $1500 up front which I didn't have. So they were going to euthanize her. I'm like over my dead body. I got my sister to help over the phone using her visa. They did agree on payments after I was relentless about NOT having another $4500. It was an estimate of course, but was damn close when all was said and done. 1yr or oh so later after that and 6k, she is doing awesome. :yay: This was several yrs back btw, but sounds like nothing has change.

Good luck today!

You would have paid close to the same price at either of the other two ER hospitals. Call today and just talk to them and you will see.

Its an ER HOSPITAL..... not a regular vet. I know it sucks that the prices are higher but if it was a life threaten emergency like gastric torsion... there is no waiting till the regular vet opens.

You will find good and bad stories at all vets and ER hospitals. Especially this day in the economy where people are watching how they spend their money. (not saying they don't love their pets but they will sacrifice their pets well being before treating them)

I have good stories and bad stories about both Waldorf when Fox owned it and now that VCA has it, and also MASH and Annapolis. And imagine this.... the bad stories are almost the same... they are about money?

Good luck with your "LITTLE" PUP!!! Hope it works out for ya! Give him a big :huggy: from us.

My experience with the Waldorf emergency vet had nothing to do with money, it was about it being filthy, seeing a doctor that was rude and non-caring and just a general bad experience. Money is really not an object where my pet's wellbeing is concerned.

I agree that emergency vets are alot higher, I knew this but do they really expect someone to come up with the payments right on the spot and usually in the middle of the night? I would have paid the higher price for my pet, but I couldn't fork over 1200 on the spot.

OH CAT.... I hear ya loud and clear on that!! There were a few there and still are!! (But as with any hospital - animal or human)

But I can rule out one Dr. it was not there! I will only go to Waldorf on a Friday, Saturday, or Sunday night when Dr. Johnson is working!!! She is kind, understanding and will not "over do" things. She will explain things to you and talk to you so you understand ALL options. Any other time.... it has to be REALLY BAD and they better be on deaths door and I cant take care of it!
I can tell you the one biatch of a Dr. they had there is not there any more.

As for it being clean.... Fox did clean thing up and then VCA has made more changes that is for the better!! :yahoo:

But you are right about payments. Just like with most places.... oil change, groceries, and even your co pays. They are due at time of service. For those who may not know you can look into Care Credit. It can be used for you, your kids and your pets for many different things. Good to have if you have pets!!!

Sorry but Cat is right about this also.... Its just the way it is.
Think about how many times they have got burned from saying ... OK... make payments.

Why? They gave you a price, you declined. It's not like they did treatment without your approval. $132 is NOT that much. Shoot, just a regular vet exam at my vet's is $50. Why do you feel they "raped" (I HATE when people throw that word around) you and your dog? You could have left their and gone to MASH or Annapolis. And what are you going to report to the BBB? "They gave me a high quote and I turned them down!" C'mon.

:yeahthat: I don't know of any vet that will do payments now. I don't blame them either. How can they get their money when so many people are delinquent on their bills?

When Dr. Fox owned the ER clinic he use to work out payment plans with people all the time because he did really care. BUT AT THE SAME TIME HE EXPECTED PEOPLE TO PAY.... how dare him expect people to pay for his services!! :jet: nnnoooooo you dont hear those type of stories..... all you hear about are how bad Dr. Fox and his group did them, and what they did do their dog. He did have a good heart and did help many people out in many ways. I know he even knocked off lost off peoples bill to help them out.

It takes so much to go thru the court system to try to recover their money when it doesnt get paid back if they play "Mr. Nice Guy". Well now that it is run by a Corporate operation.... you have no chance in living heck. Get Care Credit, or put it on credit card.
