.........

I used the place in annapolis when my mastiff tore his cruciate ligamants. Very expensive but when they are doing major surgery and putting steel plates and pins in I can understand. The doctor was vey professional, ran his hands down my dogs legs and knew exactly what was wrong. 9 months later when the other knee blew I called them, on a sunday night, and they said have him here at 6 tomorrow morning. I was very pleased with the service there. Have also used MASH for physical therapy followong the surgeries. I give them credit, Zeus tried throwing his weight around letting them know he was not happy with them. Put they kept going and made him do his therapy. In the long run he felt much better and you could tell.

Totally different scenario. Both MASH and Annapolis have emergency services but they also are both specialist hospitals...and MASH is a rehab facility as well.

another waldorf rant

i am amazed at how many people have had bad experiences at the waldorf vet clinic.
i brought my dog there last year for canine epilepsy. he'd been in seizures all day and i couldn't bear to wait any longer. they wanted $1200 up front and i left him there overnight. the next day they told me they wanted to do more tests, and keep him there another night. when all was said and done, i had to put him down and the total cost was more than $2300.

Since you have had plenty of bad experiences with that place why do you continue to go back. It is your choice to go there, you have options now... so go to MASH or Annapolis.

Its one of those things where you have had a bad experience and you think to yourself, " I'll give them another chance". The times I had to deal with them was because they were close and a trip to Annapolis was to far for the emergency. I didn't know about MASH at the times.

I am SO grateful to learn about the Annapolis and MASH emergency options.
Like many others in here, I experienced the trauma associated with taking my dog to Waldorf. It was early Saturday morning (a few weeks ago) and I was the only one there...although I know they have "patients" in the back that were left. My big precious baby, a 100 pound lab mix suddenly couldn't stand up and looked SO sad :bawl:

They took me right back to a room....where I sat with my boy terrified for him for almost FORTY-FIVE MINUTES!!!!!!!!!! I was climbing the walls, I was so upset!!! The doctor finally came in, checked him over, asked a bunch of questions and brought a table on wheels in to carry him to the back for xrays and blood work, AFTER telling me the cost would be approximately $400 that I needed to pay up front. TWO HOURS later, I was called back to the room, only to wait for another THIRTY minutes before the doctor came in. He told me the xrays didn't show anything wrong, but he wanted my permission to take an xray of his neck area for ANOTHER $70. I waited yet another amount of time that seemed like an eternity before he FINALLY came to a conclusion....

My little boy tested negative for Lyme Disease, but the doctor was convinced that was what was wrong. He told me the medications he would put him on and that they would get them and I could take my boy home. I sat in that waiting room, HONESTLY, for another HOUR waiting for them to release my dog to me!!!!!!! I finally walked up and asked the receptionist if something bad had happened to my dog in the back!!!!! She went and checked and came back telling me they were getting his medications. WTF?! After an HOUR they were only just then getting the pills together?!!!!!

By the time they came out with my dog and medications, I had another $300 I had to pay for added expenses....$700 to test and tell me lyme disease, but ALL DAY LONG to do it!!!!!!! :burning:

**The happy ending though, is that after a few days on the medication, he was back to his own self again and could walk.

I sincerely hope you didn't want them to rush you in and rush you out.
Have you taken a human to the emergency room of a hospital lately ? You'll be lucky to be in and out in anything less then 5 hours.
Not picking - just putting it into perspective. I love my animals ALMOST as much as I love my kids. I'd much rather have someone take the time to try and really determine what is happening versus guess and send me on my way just so that I wasn't waiting long.

My dog is currently at Waldorf right now having CCL surgery. Went this morning, the surgeon examined her and spent quite a bit of her time answering my stupid questions and explaining exactly what she is going to do and the risks involved. I'm sure she could have come in - said 'dog needs surgery' left and sent me on my way or rushed off to see if someone was waiting in the waiting room. But she didn't and I was grateful. I guess maybe I was cutting into someone elses time by asking a bunch of questions I dunno, but I was glad the vet spent the time talking to me instead of rushing me.
I do also know that they currently are caring for some abandoned kittens that require feedings every 2 hours. I had to wait to pay my deposit but I wasn't worried. One of the receptionist had a salad sitting on the counter when I came in and after the 2 hours I was there she still didn't have the chance to start eating her lunch.

Like I said CheriAnn - certainly not picking on you, just looking at it from a slightly different angle.
Glad you big guy was OK.
