MOST businesses do that I don't see hairdressers, auto stores and paint stores open 24 hours a day. Most businesses only want your money when it is convenient to them. You at Southern Maryland online want your money in a convenient way other wise you would have us call you on the telephone at 3AM to pay for ads and subscriptions.

.
Getting hair cuts or buying auto parts and paint can wait until "normal" hours, as can buying ads and services on somd.com. An injured animal cannot. That is the difference in the nature of the businesses.

Would you please answer my question? Did you get your pooch seen by a vet?

Not Sunday... My friends started driving the more severly injured one up to waldorf but the owners of that dog (they were dog sitting) decided for them to not take it that they would take it to the vet the next day. We were ok with that because we finally were able to get the bleeding to stop and neither animal was showing signs of disorientation or seizures.

I know the vet in Dunkirk is open 24 hours for emergencies. We had to take our cocker there when her back went out several years ago. I don't know if that's easier than Waldorf or not for you.

since it's such a big problem how come nobody is willing to stand up and say "time to change"

Give the vets in the area some motivation you know.

I go to St. Mary's Vet now, but used to go to Three Notch. They had one Vet on call at all hours who would actually come to you. It was very expensive, but well worth it in the sitauation you were explaining.

Hope the pups are doing better.

Actually we were pretty lucky... the more seriously injured dog is epileptic and that was another concern... And it took a good hour before the bleeding stopped...

this got me thinking about the what-if's... what to do in the future...

I agree. I was just explaining what Danzig was saying. I've driven miles and miles for a sick kitty. It's awful.

usually one of those real thick pads make it so its not so awful :yay:

No, it’s a business just like any other. If you don’t like it, get with the other nut case and open your own business. A vet owes you nothing, if you don't like the hours of the vet don't use them.

You can pay for ads on Somd.com 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, thanks to modern technology. But, honey, if you want to call me at 3am with your credit card in hand, send me an email and I'll meet you there. :yay:

Once, long ago, my cat was laying in the sun and along came a pitbull off the leash and she attempted to eat my cat. I was in deperate need of emergency vet services. I called Three Notch Vet in Hollywood and got a recording "if this is an emergency, call this #. And I did , and the vet met us at the hospital in Hollywood. I hope they still do it this way. Hope your baby is ok

Interesting logic. I'll ignore your little petty barb about getting with "the other nut case" as it is irrelevant to the discussion.

A hospital owes me nothing either. Hospitals do most of their business during "normal" hours and make the most profit. Therefore, to maximize profit they should get rid of providing services on nights and weekends. By focusing on these core profit maximizing hours, they can get rid of the ER except for emergencies that happen from 9 to 5. :yay:

:duh:

BTW - I do own a business and have worked many nights and weekends for it because of customer demand. But the nature of it is not critical for providing potentially life-saving care, which is a VERY big distinction between businesses in my book.
