Enterprise Car Rental (Waldorf) fishy and longwind
Ok, first off, i had to take my car into the dealership for some work, and they had to keep it overnight, my app was at 1oc wednesday.. they gave me a voucher for 1 free day for a rental.
I get to enterprise and the only thing they have is a doge pickup truck, im like cool cause i hate small compact cars. They take me out to inspect the truck before handing over the keys to me.. the guy took literally 30 seconds to walk around the truck. Then asks me if i want insurance, etc etc... of course i say no, who does??
Anyway...
I drive straight home and park it in my driveway, right up against the garage (it wont fit in the garage) from their place to my house is roughly 7 miles.
They next day, i wake up and dont go anywhere , i took the day off.. but at noon my wife calls and asks if i want to goto lunch with her at Chipotle, i said sure, and hopped in the truck to meet her up there. Distance to Chipotle from my house is about 8 miles. When i get there i decided to park over in the Bed Bath And Beyond parking lot WHERE NO OTHER CARS WERE LOCATED because i know how idiots will ding your doors and dont give a crap anymore.
We finish eating and i head home (again about 8 miles from chipotle) I didnt stop anywhere else along the way home, nor did i go anywhere else besides home and lunch with my wife.
At about 3PM i get a call from the dealership saying my car was finished, so i head back up to Enterprise to turn the truck in and get a ride to pick my car up.
One dude comes out and starts walking around the truck, he gets to the rear bumper and stops.. there is a tiny dent in the middle of the bumper (which is chrome) and about ½ - 3/4 or a inch tall and maybe a quarter of an inch wide and not very deep what so ever. He's like "there isnt anything written down about this being here before you rented the truck yesterday" Im like are you serious? are you trying to say I did this? He got quiet...
We get inside and he says we are going to have to file a claim with your insurance company... I flip out but keep my composure curse word wise.
I could not believe he was serious and said i did not do this, if i had i would admit to it. I then ask to see records of the trucks rental history from the past month, hell i would of even taken the last week, but he says and i quote "we dont keep those records" by the time he finished saying this i was FURIOUS. What the hell do you mean you dont keep these records? i yelled....
He then tries to say that enterprise comes by twice a week and takes those records on mondays and wednesdays.. im like of course they do and rolled my eyes.. then said look, I do have to be somewhere this evening and need to get my car back and get home to get ready.. we need to resolve this asap!!
He goes and talks to his manager and the manager comes over and says that they will not file a claim with my insurance company...and that they will bill me outright for it ... i said dude i dont have $500 left on my credit card, go ahead and try it .. so he does and foc ourse it gets declined... then he asks if i h ave another credit card i could use... im like yep BUT YOU ARE NOT GETTING IT
What it boils down to is, they are going to just send me a bill.. for $500!!!
How the hell do they know its going to cost $500 to fix it? And why did they change their tune and decide NOT to file a claim with my insurance company after all? Something smells fishy here and i swear on both of my grandmothers graves that i DID NOT cause this damage.
Well luckily my wife is an insurance adjuster, and i called her and told her the WHOLE story.. she couldnt believe it and said they were full of ####.. i went back up there today and took pictures of the bumper.. anyone else ever have this problem with enterprise? specifically the Waldorf location???
I turned to about 5 other people sitting inside the office waiting on a ride or cars and said, you all better look your cars over with a tooth and comb, because they sure as hell dont!! They wouldnt even listen to me when i explained to them my routes and timelines of driving the truck... but what they didnt know was that my wife knows it wont cost them $500 to fix it, she does it for living... and that 3 of her friends were at chipotle when i got there, and they saw where i had parked the truck away from all of the other cars.
I am going to chronologically map out my routes of the roads i took from the time i took the truck off the lot, all the way up until the time i returned the vehicle to them, and i am going to fight this in court when the time comes, i swear to god if it snot one thing, its another.
They said i drove the truck 30 miles, here is the breakdown of where i drove to, and from...according to google maps...
FROM enterprise to my house 8.4 miles
FROM my house to Chipotle 6.8 miles
FROM Chipotle back to my house 6.8 miles
FROM my house back to Enterprise 8.4 miles
That all comes out to 30.4 miles!!! hmmmmm *scratches chin*
I figure with the witnesses that saw where i was parked, that they will not have a case against me in court.. what does everyone else think??
All of this over a dent so small you almost need a magnifying glass to see sheesh!!!
They did say that their loss prevention division will go over records of documented scratches and dings, then come to a conclusion, but i bet they try to stick it to me.. i will NEVER rent a car from those people again for as long as i live!!
If you rent a car from these people.. INSPECT THE CAR YOU ARE RENTING LIKE A CSI DETECTIVE!!
