Enterprise Car Rental (Waldorf)

Last time I rented from Enterprise, they tried that 30 second inspection crap on me. I was taking the car to FL and back, and knew there were possibilities for bumps, scratches, accidents etc.

I went out, re-inspected the car, made note of all the dings, scratches and dents and made the guy come note them on my contract. I've heard stories of this happening to others as well.

You learned a lesson. A very expensive lesson. We've all been there. :huggy:

I always thought that my auto coverage would apply if I needed it?
It does, but if you don't purchase the rental cars insurance and they file a claim against your insurance company, they will charge your insurance company the daily rental cost for that car for each day it is "out of service". If it takes their repair shop three weeks to fix the ding... your insurance will be charged the daily rental cost of that car for each of those days on top of the cost to repair the car.

I'm confused. Your first sentence says it will be taken care of, then the rest of your post goes to say you will be charged everything.

You will be charged everything as in "your insurance company" will be charged everything.

It counts as a claim against you.

Socki... when they say "It only cost $24.95" for the rental insurance do you want it?" make sure you ask is that for the week... and then see if you can keep as straight face when you do the math quickly in your head when they reply, "Oh no... that is a daily charge."

Next time, do a walk around of your car. Take pictures with your cell phone, including a shot of your car and the salesman or your car and the front of the location. That way you have documented the condition.

Check with your car insurance and credit card companies. A lot of them cover rental car insurance as part of the package.

I've never had a car more than 2 or 3 days but I know that I would not have paid that much per day. Only thing that I can think of is that I rented a car because someone ran into me. Maybe the other insurance picked it up. I really don't remember. I am going to dig thru the paperwork tonight.

Yeah, as some people get some strange without using a condom and manage not to pick up a STD. Point?

Well, I average 2 or 3 car rentals a month

In the past 6 years have never had an issue, but I never rent from Enterprise and almost solely rent from Avis..

Avis gives you a paper that tells you to do a walk-around and note the dings, dents, scuffs etc. and that is given to the exit guy before you leave with the car. He/she signs it and you get a copy to keep. If you pay attention to what you sign each time you rent, you will see you are agreeing that if you did not mark the issue prior to exiting and Avis choses to file a claim to get it fixed upon your return, you are responsible.

As for you never checking and never having a problem, it very well could be that Avis is not in the market to rip off their customers as it appears Enterprise seems to be. Regardless, you do make yourself legally responsible for any/all damage not noted in the walk-around once you leave the lot.

I don't sign anything when I rent, and all I get is a little piece of cardboard that sits in the window with my name on it..
