Epilation

Strung Out
I just had an odd visual of this really big hulk of a man walking bow-legged into the ER with a buzzing piece of machinery dangling precariously from his...well...uh...

I was thinking about you when I was crossing the TJ bridge this AM. On my motorsickle. Looking down, way down, at the white caps. Successful, more or less, at staying in my lane. You'da loved it.

Was he crying in this visual?

You should contact per privately because she will be annoyed at me discussing this in public.
It was pretty hot. Just think of an intimate setting, candles, hot buttered rum, aloe and a gas powered leaf blower.

You forgot the screams. I'll wait for the short film :yay:

Speaking of manscaping..... you know those creams that are supposed to be "gentle" ?

Ha. HA!, I say.

Yeah, there is no way... I can't even wax my legs myself. I eventually tried laser hair removal. "Pain free" isn't just that, but much more tolerable than epi or wax.
I hope this isn't a ladies only thread. And I'm sorry for the long post, but I think you will find my experience enlightening:

I went to "Alase" in Rockville and had some hair removal done years ago on my neck because I had a thick beard and wanted it thinned out or done away with completely. It worked really well but hurt like $%@*. I tolerated it though.

After those 5 treatments ended, Alase changed to their "Pain free" method. I went back to have what they called a "touch up" done (that is a single treatment done when a new hairs grow in but don't require the full 5 treatments). Anyhow, their pain free method is a rip off. It does nothing! They said it doesn't kill the folicle like the old method did, it just disrupts it's ability to grow hair and makes the hair grow back finer until it finally goes away (just like my money did)!

Later I bought a hair removal product from "Tria" that claimed to do what the original laser treatment did. It costed $1,000 but, if it works, I said what the heck? After 6 months, I called them back and said; It's not doing the job. They sent me another one and I used it for the next six months with no results.

I called them back and asked them what the "Joule" level was. (A Joule is a unit of electrical energy that determines how much of a "zap" you feel). They said it was 22 units. I told them that Alase used 60 Joules on me and it worked very well and that there's no way 22 would do the job. They said they weren't allowed by law to produce a product with more than 30 Joules of energy. I told them that I wanted my money back or I'd file charges of false advertisement. After 2 days they called me back and said they'd send me my money back. (They did).

My conclusion: nothing works as well as full energy laser hair removal. Waxes, sticky tape, shaving, cremes or pain free treatments do not give permanent results! No pain, no gain. Hope this helps.

The instructions said it might sting a bit when used on the underarms or bikini area.

No.

Child birth stings a bit.

A root canal stings a bit.

Having your fingernails ripped out stings a bit.

Epilation freaking HURTS!

The legs weren't so bad, but the underarms feel all bruised and sore, even two days after.

I use all the time little discomfort. when you use it, make sure it is purpendicular to the underarm and make sure you are holding it straight and not at an angle(that will sting). A little dab of ambesol works wonders.

Very interesting. I did Alase - out of Pentagon City (there is one in Annapolis now) a few years ago. I bought in right as they phased out the painful (don't know what else to call it) method to go pain free. I think my first 3 were the painful one. I go in for 4, and they said - we have this great new pain free method. I did it, and it is much less painful. I go back for 5, and they were going to do the painful one again - after I had done the pain free and it hurt so much less! I said oh I don't think so :) Maybe I should have stuck with the painful one! Since I was toward the end of the treatments, I really don't know if the pain less version worked less or not.
