For those of you whose kids attend or have attended Esperanza Middle School recently, I’m interested in opinions on your middle school experience at Esperanza. Thanks.

Some say it's the best of the 4 but I thnk they have also brushed some stuff under the carpet (so to speak).
It's hard to comment because a number of the staff have retired in recent years, some of the better teachers such as the band instructor. Say what you might about his personality but he taught the kids how to play.

I had an awesome experience at EMS. I loved it. Great teachers (except for the perverted gym teacher). But, that was a few years ago. :yay:
which one, I think the good one retired a few years ago.

I was speaking to someone the other day about area middle schools. It seems everyone wants to be in the Leonardtown/Esperanza district which means the schools are getting crowded. I haven't heard anything bad about Esperanza though.

Wildewood plans to open an elementary school in 2009.

By my experience, the teachers are great. However, they do tend to pass students that should not go froward. If the student is truely struggling and can't get by in the current grade they are in, then they should not be allowed to push them through to the next grade. I have heard this happen too many times. But then again, the school may be forced to push the kids through thanks to the "No Child Left Behind act" Too many schools are taking that to the limit

And don't forget - they don't front lunch money when parents neglect to provide it for their kids.

I'll have to make sure I don't forget to keep the Café Prepay account up to date.

My oldest daughter goes there. She just finished 6th and is headed to 7th. She loves it. Really likes her teachers, her friends, and her classes. As a matter of fact the week before school was out she came to me and asked if EMS has summer school. :lmao: Okay I know this isn't normal but I had no problems with her being there.
Oh wait she did get slapped at recess by some boy one day.

I had great teachers. Gutman, Sweeney, Burch, Fox, and a few others. There were some weird ones though.

Hey Mighty Mouse, remember the one that used to lick her keys?

Esperanza Middle School 06-12-2007 04:46 PM 3/4 of your list are HORRIBLE teachers.

Which 3 of the 4 are horrible? Are they all still there?

I think Mr. Fox is still there. Great teacher!!! I don't know about the "horrible" part and the others!

I liked Mr. Fox. I had him for my homeroom teacher in the 7th grade. Ronald X. Fox.

Hoffmeister reitred this year, my daughter had him and did not feel uncomfortable around him at all..The school is good my daughter just finished her 6th grade year there and she had a great experience. She liked all of her teachers, the classes and the other students. I never had a problem with the school.

My kids have had a very good experience at EMS. Wonderful, caring teachers. The only thing that I'm not thrilled with is the house system. My oldest child never got rewarded as her younger sister did, and they are both well-behaved, no referrals, all A's, kind of kids. It just depends on what house you're placed in. For the past 2 years, the Buccaneers have won a lot of the big rewards, so I think something just isn't right as to how the program is run.
