And welcome me into the "Terrible Twos". My son turned 2 last Thursday. It's been fun. He hasn't slept throught the night in 3 weeks. He's running around like a little mad man. He's been hilarious, though. He's really getting his personality now. I'm tired.

Any good Terrible 2 stories?

My son's terrible twos were related to a two-year timeframe and not his age. From 3-5 I didn't think he'd make it to see 6. He's almost 7 now and so much fun!

Temper tantrums. If you ignore them, they'll go away sooner. Gurl used to throw herself to the ground, kicking, screaming and banging her head on the floor. I thought she was gonna' bust her head open. :yikes:

I locked myself in the bathroom until she came and knocked on the door, promising to be good.

We've had a few floor tantrums in the past few weeks. Did you laugh at her or is that just plain mean? I laughed my ass off.

I completely ignored her and walked away. She was over the tantrum stage in about a week. She realized it wasn't getting the desired results and stopped.

My own personal opinion (not that you asked) is that the laughter encourages the tantrum......
I have been known to throw a tantrum or two WITH my kiddo, funny she didn't think it was so great when mommy was on the floor too.......I didn't have too much of a problem with tantrums though :ohwell:

He's only done it a few times. Lately it's just been the whining and throwing stuff. Oh, and breaking Grandma's "collectibles". He's been sick too so that hasn't helped matters.

I'll tell ya, I was just a little angel when I was 2. Matter of fact, I've been that way pretty much my whole life. I have no idea what is wrong with 2-year olds these days............

I did the same as Elaine, and gave myself a time-out.

I'll trade you a 16 year old for your 2 year old. She does laundry, dishes and cooks - and I don't even mind if the 2 year old isn't potty trained. :jet:

Shoot, I'll gladly trade for a bit. I'd love to have a housekeeper while someone else potty trains my munchkin. :yay:

While we are on the subject...

Any hints or tips on potty training? My son just thinks that the potty chair is a hiding place for toys. Oh and occasionally he scoots the chair across the room. :ohwell:

Right there is the best advice - ignore them! No matter what, try not to react in anyway don't even acknowledge them - Any reaction whether positive or negative only reenforces the behavior.

One of my kids threw herself to the floor in the grocery store in a temper tantrum in an attempt to get her way. I stepped right over her and kept shopping and didn’t look back at her...she came running up to me the next row over with a look of total astonishment on her face.

My J started around 2 1/2 years old. But only at school and NOT all the time. Then I got pregnant. I think that threw him off. I never EVER pushed it. I bought the potty. ( waste of $$ )

Daycare was great .. always asking every 2 hours. I was lax ... asked, but didn't push it.

He woke up 2 months before his 4th birthday and decided that was they day. Haven't looked back since.

It will happen when it happens!!
