Well, he's in good company then. As long as you're talking about presidents who ride a wave of popularity at the expense of others, you forgot to mention W's ride on the back of the killed and wounded services members. He even got a re-election out of it.

I would say you'd be wrong since he's the one that sent them there KNOWING it was the unpopular thing to do.

Actually, he sent them in there when it was a popular thing to do because everyone's emotions were high as a result of the 9-11 attacks and he had us believing the whole weapons of mass destruction story.

You do NOT get to make the claim that you've EARNED your 1st Amendment rights more than someone who's never served, or even more than me, since you did 20, and I only did 6. The same way I don't get to claim I earned more of a 1st Amendment right than anyone who's never served in the military. Not a single swinging d*ck one of us "more than earned the right to say what we please," any more than any other citizen of these here United States.

We are ALL of us, even people we don't happen to agree with, or even like very much, entitled to the same rights, privileges, and protections under the Constitution of the United States. We don't have to "earn" those rights, privileges, and protections, as much as I may personally feel like it ought to be otherwise. Thankfully, the founders were a lot smarter than either one of us will ever hope to be.

Obama needed a National Crisis.. HIS 9/11.. and since it didn't happen, they made this into it.

Now he's "riding a wave of popularity" at the expense of all these victims.. Wonder how the congresswoman feels knowing that all she's going through, the pain, the rehab, her very own President is taking advantage of her situation and gaining in the polls at her expense.

Let's not lose sight of what actually happened; culminating November of last year Barrack Obama was a failed president precisely because of his divisive leadership style coupled with his failed policies. The nation had had enough of his finger wagging, pontificating cluelessness and made dramatic changes the way we do; at the ballot box.

It started in Massachusetts and New Jersey and Virginia. The acrimonious health care debate. The spoils system of the stimulus. Zero progress on housing. Zero progress on energy costs. Drifting on the wars. Entitlement problem growing and growing. Illegal immigration still ignored. Not even Gitmo had been addressed other than as yet another example of his campaign rhetoric not being sustainable due to his lack of leadership and ability to get people to follow.

Obama was down and out. He'd earned that failure not because of his race or birth certificate or his quirky dancing skills or ugly golf swing or anything other than his policies and his leadership being found wanting. He was what we thought he was; an empty resume.

And then, what happened? John Baynor picked him up off the floor, handed him more spending in exchange for NOTHING, no change in tax policy, at all. And then what? Obama, now being handed a victory on an issue he couldn't be bothered with for two years, took off on Lame Duck-apalooza; START, DADT, getting out from under having to face tax increases, more spending.

Tucson didn't elevate Barrack Obama. John Baynor did.
Tucson wasn't Obama's 9/11. John Baynor was.

Absent Baynor, Obama would have had to pay the Piper and deal with all of his failures crashing face first into tax increase and expiring unemployment benefits and exploding energy costs and all the rest. With Baynor, who I single out as the indispensable person in this equation, Obama was rescued.

Has he exploited Tucson? Sure. He's now our pastor as well. But, let's not lose sight of what actually happened before Tucson.

Because one decides not to make a career of the military doesn't mean they were "kicked out". BOP, myself, and many others volunteered to serve then decided to go back to CIVLANT after our tour of duty with an Honorable Discharge.
