If I had a daughter living at home, I would surgically implant a teen deterrence device in her arm. That oughta do the trick :yay:

And I seriously believe that kids getting it on whenever they want is a major part of why today's generation doesn't know how to form and maintain long term relationships.

Why can't they get it on in a monogamous relationship?

In all seriousness...I was joking...but I would rather have kids effing everything they can see and doing it safely  As far as I'm concerned, every girl can be on some form of BC and condoms be handed out in school as long as kids are using them :yay:

just because you CAN do anything/one you want doesn't mean you will. Its better to give the kids the means to protect themselves that to allow them to risk everything because they decide on a whim that they are going to start having sex by doing it unprotected.

I think instead of absinence-only, kids should be taught to just use 2+ types of birth control and get it on whenever they want

I would say if everyone was using the pill and condom every time then there would be less teen pregnancies (and STDs) than there are now, with the current teachings
Did you have the same drug abuse resistance education I had?

"Marijuana is known to cause addictions and even kill people on it's first use." :roflmao: And now, the talking dog.

Maybe they should try the same approach here.

"Sex is highly addictive, dangerous, life-changing, mind-altering and it kills." :yikes:

:roflmao:

Schools have nothing to do with the root of the matter. They can teach the biology of it as they should but past that it is the parents responsibility to instill the idea of abstinence or making a logical informed decision and how to be responsible about it.

If the parents don't give a crap, never talk to their kid, set poor examples by dragging home the "pump of the week" and bang them at home in front of the kids, all the government sponsored pamphlets, videos and curriculum in the world is not going to influence the kid to wait.

:killingme at this thread.

These damn kids with their sex and rock 'n roll!!!

Preaching abstinence doesn't work?!?
No ####.

Seeing as how our bodies are programmed to become sexually active at that age, this is truly a surprise. Good thing somebody thought it wise to pump millions of dollars into a program that had no chance in hell of succeeding.

"Hey teens...don't have sex!" :nono:
"Okay...we won't!"

Mission Accomplished! :yay:

It's not just the parents. It's the media as well.

We have raunchy shows on FOX every friggin' night. Television presses a point, sex is cool.

Friggin' MTV banned a Vanessa Carlton music video because of suggestive lyrics. Google the "White Houses" music video. So, upon hearing that, I assumed MTV was the centrical foundation of family values and ethics on cable television. Turned out I was wrong. :ohwell:

Wow, they wouldn't even be lying with that description of sex :roflmao:

 I wasn't saying that this needs to be entirely in the hands of schools. I was simply stating that school, a place every kid is (basically) forced to be, is a good place to start instilling morals  I probably spent as much time awake at school as I did at home  There are always going to be things taught that someone disagrees with, I'm simply stating that IMO, safe sex is something that should be taught in schools, NOT abstinence only.

I think the opposite. I don't want some Birkenstock wearing, free love, retro hippy, NEA member teaching my kid anything other than the biology of the reproductive system. The other part is my job.

Yeah, all those teachers who boinked their middle school students are sure teaching some great morals.

Anyway, your opinion doesn't count because once you grow up, you'll be one of the poll people who wish they hadn't been so stupid when they were a kid.

...news for you; sex has always been cool. People been doing it for ages. People been bytching about pop culture corrupting the youth ever since there was pop culture. People have been saying since forever "Ain't like the old days. everything is going to hell in a hand basket".

The difference is we, as a culture, damn near have outlawed passing judgment. Now, if you aren't a 'ho' or a 'player' aka, low self esteem, you're not cool. be a 'ho' just don't expect to be treated like a lady. Be a 'player' just don't expect to be treated like a gentleman.

Back in the day if some guy referred to you as his "ho" he almost certainly wouldn't be enjoying your pleasures later.
