F-35...getting more bad press lately.

I would like to see the Air Force send the Warthog over to the Marines if they don't want it.
Like to see the Government build some new ones.

I've been saying the same thing for years now...ever since the Chair Force started talking about divesting.

You just hush up and take me and my button pushing buddies to work :) Dont make me blow some cad smoke up there :)

P-8 & the P-3C are useless on finding subs.

Good thing the Navy still has the EP-3E and the sailors on the Catwalk.

Pretty sure if the squid on the catwalk is seeing the sub, its too late, they are just surfacing to shoot survivors.... :)

You miss the point. How can tactics be revised to put weapons on a target when the platform is not fully weapons capable? Oh, I know, load up the UAV with weapons and direct it from the platform.

You made the comment that they would be "testing" the aircraft for 20 years. I was merely pointing out that we have been routinely testing in service aircraft for that long. You also made the comment that the P-8 was a repurposed airliner. I then pointed out that your revered P-3 was based on an airliner airframe. As far as your comment above, was the P-3 100% capable with regards to weapons when it entered service? No. It was able to do basic ordnance delivery, and the weapons systems evolved as the ordnance did.

Sorry, A/C is short for Aircraft.

But, you are right as always.
a/c does cool my truck.

I know. I thought it was funny.

In any event, maybe y'all love the thing but it seems to my uneducated mind that it has been tough sledding for the thing. No?

Kind of hard to turn around when there is a mass of people (International partners) right behind you... :coffee:

You must be new. I've been on easily a half dozen military development programs (I'm old...) that were heavily pegged on "international partners" that failed to get there. That factor is far weaker than you seem to think it is.

I thought it was funny too.

I would not want to fly in the V-22.

I think the bigger driver is the age of the fleets F-35 is replacing.

See, I think this is one of those things that we've gotten wrong for generations; on the one hand, we got it right to constantly upgrade and rebuild airframes that were otherwise serviceable. On the other, cars and trucks where we just junk the whole thing and start new, over and over, instead of doing upgrades and so forth. The point being, better to have all those skilled mechanics and technicians and let the new parts and components support engineering and only change the basic stuff when there is a true leap instead of having what we have now; a huge lack of skilled mechanics replaced by a bunch of people on assembly lines that don't know jack #### past their immediate buttons.
