Ed zachary what I always claim. And often, too.

You know, for some weird reason, everyone feels like they have to change things now. I hope they stop soon...
I'm getting real tired of change.... (especially change for the sake of change & not change because there's a real actual, not perceived, need.)
I don't check it that often now and I'm about to cut back more when they change over to the stupid "timeline" format.![]()
I'm probably a poor reference point since I've never 'liked' Facebook and so am aggravated by every change they have ever made to it, causing me to like it less and less.
Have any of the changes caused you to use it less? Or, you've just dealt with it because you want it for whatever you use it for?
@Tilted...
I am resisting timeline until it is foisted upon me.
The constant changes are annoying as I feel that I waste time trying to figure out how to do things that I used to do by rote but now have to figure out, again. It is the same with all things electronic and it will not change as change is the nature of the digital world.
What bothers me the most is that I have to figure out privacy settings yet again, since I tend to keep things locked down pretty tight.
I am a digital immigrant. Things will always be more difficult for me because I did not grow up using them. If you want to know about the future prospects of FB, ask the young people. At some point, the older folks will stop using it because it keeps changing too fast. Younger folks are used to it.
If I had money, I'd invest. I've looked at lots of other "social networking" things as part of my job in keeping up with this stuff. Have not seen anything that can compare. There are a lot of imitators but I think FB pretty much has the concept nailed. Microsoft, Apple, Google & Facebook -- the giants...
I'm prolly not a good example to ask since I don't use it that much but I have seen the "timeline" format on other users page and I hate it. It's bulky, hard to read and hard to follow.Since the timeline interface was brought up here, I'll ask some questions about it that I've been wanting to get some feedback on (i.e. from Facebook users). If I don't get enough feedback, maybe I'll eventually start another thread.
What are people's impressions of the timeline format? If you don't like it, is the forced switch any where close to enough of a negative that you'd consider abandoning your Facebook account? Or use it less?
What about other changes in the past? Have you found over time that you liked them more than you thought you would? And, do you think there's much chance that these kinds of changes (i.e. not regarding privacy, but regarding the interface) will ultimately cause you to stop using Facebook or to use it less? Or, is it too important a part of your life now to give it up based on these kinds of issues?
I'm currently trying to wrap my head around the Facebook model and figure out what kinds of issues will matter going forward - what the risks are, what the prospects are, etc. With the IPO coming soon, I kinda want to have a good framework in which to consider its performance metrics. I appreciate any feedback anyone might have.
I certainly wouldn't be willing to pay for minutes to browse FB pages. I also am not hooked into FB the way some people are. It can stay or go as far as I care. Is MySpace still up? Maybe people would go back to that?
Yep...Myspace is still up. I still have my account but rarely use it.
My page went timeline on its own, so I assume it was a FB change, as I did not ask for that.
I know that there is some kind of a button to click somewhere (came up at one point but I ignored it) that would let you try out the timeline format in advance of the change. I deliberately avoided clicking on it. Otherwise, I believe that they are planning on having all users switched over to the new format by the beginning of March. They are probably doing it a segment at a time because mine is still the old concept (or, you clicked the button without realizing what it would do!).
If I did it was totally by accident, and I bet I can't figure out how to reverse it?

I don't think it's possible to reverse it once you've done it but I could be wrong. If it is, somethere there should be an option to "revert back to original". You might want to investigate all of the settings options or take a look at their FAQs.
