Just like that :yay:

But notice the people who *say* they don't want drama are some of the biggest drama whores around? Amazing.

I always have to scratch my head when people do that and wonder why.

If you lurk/stalk/peep on your husband and daughter's FB pages and see egotism and people using profanity and badmouthing of others - you are seeing their "FB Friends". They chose them, so they must think they have some worth.

If you had your own FB page, you could pick & choose those you feel are worthy of interacting with you and then it might be more enjoyable to you.

I cannot see my 3 nieces, my 1 brother, or my 2 favorite aunts (and their children) on a regular basis. My family has always been spread out around the east coast of the US, however, since my sister passed away I can keep up with my niece's goings on through FB and stay in touch, I can comment on things they say or do on FB, which we would not otherwise be able to do. They live in FL and are all in various areas of FL and having FB keeps us in touch so much faster. Now that Foxhound's family is pretty much my family as well, we all keep up that way, too. They can see what I post about myself or my boys and vice versa. We all love seeing the pictures of each other's lives that WE POST. We don't have to post anything, but we do - because we want to share it.

There are just so many positive things about FB that far outweigh the negative, BUT! the negative is pretty easy to take care of. Delete, unfriend, hide. If you don't WANT drama - you don't have to have drama. It's really *that simple.

can i get an AMEN SISTA... :high5:

I have unfriended a bunch of people I like and have no drama with. They just post WAY too much crap.

You don't have to unfriend them, you can just hide them from your feed so their posts don't show up. You'll still see their blogorrhea when you go to their page, but not in your feed.

Some people do have WAY too much time on their hands, i.e.

12:25 PM Just saw the mailman go by - he's cute

12:50 PM OMG I just had a bad gas pain

1:20 PM I am so tired I just want to take a nap

1:45 PM - Nope, no nap but Ahh ..... finally a trip to the bathroom that produced results

1:55 PM OMG I just tripped over the cat

I despise "vaguebooking" HELLOOOOOO ATTENTION WHORING

You took the words right out of my mouth. If you're going to be vague, then don't say anything

And if you are, I'm not asking about it and you won't be getting any attention / sympathy from me when some sap finally "coaxes" it out of you

Ah, yes - the passive aggressive hokey pokey. Just dying for everyone (you know who you are) to PM you to figure out what it's all about. :jet:

I know somebody whose posts could be deemed "Look at me" but I'm not sure she's intentionally doing it. Her husband works a lot and makes good money and she knows how to spend it. Goes to every concert in her town, goes to every professional sporting game in her town, etc. When it was her turn to do the ALS Challenge, instead of just doing it, she put on goggles, snorkel, and floaties first. She is doing her first 5K but instead of doing one in her town, she flew down to Disney World to do one of theirs.

I think FB knows better than to "notify" people when they have been unfriended - talk about potential flaming wars LOL. I am sure it won't be long before FB forces me to switch the rescue account to a "business" account whereby I have less options to use. I'm not a FB wiz so I'm not sure of all the differences yet. I doubt I'll ever have a ME page, I am the rescue, that's all I do when I'm not at my paying job. Other than rescue I don't have much of an identity.

I got a heads-up about what FB is doing when I saw that the drag queens were being forced to use their "REA" names. FB shut down their drag queen pages.

"Maybe you've seen RuPaul's Drag Race, the flagship show on Logo TV, where men (dressed as women) compete to become America's next drag superstar. At the end of each show, the lowest-scoring competitors "lip sync for their life" in order to stay on the show another week. Now, some drag queens are fighting for their social media lives.

In mid-September, Facebook started deleting profile pages belonging to drag queens like Trannyshack founder Heklina. Why? According to Facebook's "real names" policy, the use of any name other than your legal name isn't allowed. Despite a face-to-face meeting with influential drag queens, Facebook won't cave to the pressure."

I have a "business page" and it's pretty easy to use. They even have tutorials. I understand your resistance, but there are metrics and stuff that in your charities case could be very beneficial. Take the plunge.
