You equate "down to earth" with "stupid", and that is absolutely not the case. You don't like "folksy" - that's fine. You're certainly not alone - most people throw over someone who's real in favor of a slick orator and showman. That's how we got Bill Clinton. And Barack Obama. I, on the other hand, appreciate a real person with a real life and a real family, who didn't come ready made with glib non-answers and a wardrobe full of power suits.

Sarah Palin isn't stupid. She didn't "come across" as stupid. You think she's stupid because that's what the media brainwashers told you to think. And again, you're not alone and are most definitely the norm. Most people think what the media tells them to think.

In the debate and interviews I watched, she came across as stupid, which is the only reason why I said that. She didn't have good answers to a lot of questions that were asked of her (either complete non-answers or really scary answers that made no sense), she came up with a bunch of dumb lines that she thought were catchy or fun (they weren't), and overall I was not remotely impressed with her.

What did she say that was scary? What did she say that was inaccurate or "bunch of dumb lines"?

Palin does what a lot of the female Fox personalities do, pretend to be ignorant about things they are knowledgeable about in order to appear more "real".

At least to me, it comes across as disingenuous. If you have a good argument, let me hear it. If you believe it's too nuanced or complicated for my understanding, explain it. Her degree is in communications for heaven's sake. But please don't pretend that you, like me, are woefully ignorant of these complex and complicated matters and must instead appeal to our mutual gut feeling about how things should be.
