I used to drive on the beach a lot pulling a trailer, in really fine sugar sand. Instead of sand tires, you need to get really good radial tires with good sidewall ply. The reason is that when you hit the beach, you air down the tires to about 10 lbs. You'll glide over the top of the sand. Sand tires are soft and get punctures very easily. Good radials don't.

99% of the people that get stuck in sand didn't air down.

I miss those days. Sun, fun, scuba, camping on the beach.
I'll be sure to pick your brain before purchasing a wheel/tire package. Thanks for the offer. :yay:

I remember reading a few years back that there was a live American chestnut on Pax. It was getting so large it was beginning to interfere with sightlines from the tower. The Navy was considering cutting it down.

They cut a ton of trees down 😕, but damn an American Chestnut.

My grandfather's house had 3-4 very large chestnut trees, they all died out by the early 90s. I loved the smell about July they would give off, everyone else in my family said stunk. Also loved eating the chestnuts, but they made me fart like a horse.

I don't know if they did or not. Other state and fed agencies were pressuring the Navy to leave it because it had not succumbed to the disease .
One of my neighbors in Leonardtown had one that was thriving.

Def fall now. Heard a hoot owl, haven't heard one in a long time. Thought they left the area.
