Fatal MVA

Is it just me or does route 4 in Lusby seem to be deadlier than the beltway?

It does seem like it. Guess thats what happens when you have people driving at beltway speeds on a road that has short turnoffs, at-grade crossings, left lane high speed merges, driveways, a new traffic signal every other week, and more cars than ever before.

According to the witnesses standing around the scene that I was speaking to, a black passenger car was southbound on 2/4 going towards the bridge when it lost control and crossed the median into the northbound lane of 2/4 where it was struck by a 70s era pickup truck. Both vehicles ended up in the grassy median bewtween the northbound lane of 2/4 and the southbound lane of H.G.Trueman rd just about at the Holiday Inn access road intersection.

They get slick when it's drizzly and the oils and gunk start mixing in with the light rain water.

When it first starts to rain, it's been raining off and on all day. Blaming the accident on slick roads makes as much sense as me blaming the below freezing temp.

Either there was something wrong with the car, or the driver was doing something wrong...

Slight possibility that there may have been something wrong with the road but doubtful...

Can't assume anything around you Bob ! :lmao:
Of course wet roads don't jump up and hurt people.
Yes the driver had to be driving in a unsafe fashion in those weather conditions or had car trouble. :duh:.
The first scenario probably happens more often.
The speed limit through there is 45 and is continuously ignored even on a good day.
Excuse me for not making every little detail clear. :killingme
Bad road conditions drive up the risks of mishaps.

Dismissing a fatal accident because the roads were slick was beyond silly..

It was raining and raining most of the day, the temp is over 50, but the slick roads were to blame? Ludicrous..

So very sad to drive pass that site knowing a person died there.
Texting? Getting cut off by an anxious driver eager to beat that car to the bridge? (passing on the right and cut in front of)
The sudden appearance of brake lights infront of the driver?

The truck, not watching ahead on the road?
Going to fast to avoid the car coming from its left?

A thousand questions.
And one, two families grieve at a horrific accident and loss.

My thoughts and prays for all those involved, especially, as always, the EMTs, Medics, firefighters, all volunteers who have to deal with the death, the carnage and go home and have dinner with family and go to their paying jobs in the morning.
Thank you guys and gals for always being there at the worst times possible.
Thank you.

Solomons last night

Between the Solomons Fastop and the old Woodburns.

I saw the accident just a minute after it happened... help had not even arrived yet. Then 2 hours later I passed by again and Rt. 4 North was closed, and 1/2 of H.G. Truman also closed. The car was covered in sheets to hide the fatality and it appeared the equipment was on site to cut out the bodies.

The angle the car took was very sharp. I know because I saw it! I debated with my passenger what could make someone turn that sharply, while going that fast... in the rain.
