Favorite baby gear

My daughter is pregnant, as many of you know, and they are living in a small apartment. We're trying to pare the list of baby gear down to just the essentials to save space. SO, what was/is your favorite baby gear item? Obviously crib, carseat, etc, but what about some other things?

My absolute favorite was a diaper bag that converted to a bed with sides. You hardly ever see them, but I found one on eBay for her. This thing was absolutely the most practical item I had with both of my kids.

A boppy is a must have my baby practically lived in that thing for the first 6 months.

I can't remember what it's called, but my favorite was the thing that straps on like a back pack, but you wear it on the front of your body. Baby is always facing you and can see your face.

My second favorite thing was onesies...lot's of 'em.

Congrats! I didn't know she was expecting. I'm not too familiar with the infant stage, but I know my sister liked the johnny jump and a boucy chair for her kids. They don't take up much room.

A porta-crib that can be folded up and put away when the baby is not in it. It will work up til they are one. I had one a long time ago, it was the best thing since sliced bread :lmao:

I think age is something to take into consideration, too. You don't want to pile up a bunch of stuff they can't use right away when they already have limited space. You also want to leave some things to gift later.

The bouncy chair can be used right away.

How about a stackable container, like the plastic drawers on wheels. You can put powder and wipes and lotions in it, also onsies and diapers, receiving blankets, all kinds of stuff. A lot less room then an actual dresser.

You said "right away" which had me looking like this guy ---> :eyebrow:

 Well, I meant it could be used pretty soon. The johnny jump up would be later, obviously. I was just making a suggestion based on what I know my sister used frequently.

Maybe she means the little bouncy/vibrating seat..similar to the infant seats of days gone by. My little grandkids loved them ...from the time they came home from the hospital. They weren't able to use it for very long.

I actually think that's what the earlier suggestion of a "Boppy" is.

You would stick an infant in a bouncy chair?
I did. That is what they are for... mine would sit in the bouncy chair and watch me make dinner and do dishes and such. My most favorite video clip is of my 2 mth old son bouncing in his bouncy chair and coo'ing/singing along to "Rebel Soldier" while his father sang to him. My first born really loved the chair and was really good at getting it bouncing at a young age.
