Anyone have experience with Atomic Floors (good or bad) formerly of Waldorf, now in PF?

Also, has anyone used DuraCeramic by Congoleum? We are considering both.

Thanks. :)

I recently installed DuraCeramic in our kitchen...........:yay:

I did quite a bit of research and price comparison, and felt really good about this product. It may cost a little more initially, but the durability and ease of maintenance make it worth the cost. Other things that I like about is the wide selection of colors and styles, and it was pretty easy to install myself.......so far I give it 2 :yay::yay:

Duraceramic tile is absolutely great. we installed it in our bathroom and end of year install it in our kitchen. Money well spent. try the flooring store next to do dah deli and flooring max(or something like that, across from mcKays) both in leonardtown.

SOMD POM MOM
Side note I have heard Duraceramic is great I wanted it, but I have pom that love to widdle. I was afaid something would seep thru and stink, so I went with a sheet product called K-Tech special for kitchens. I think it is made by armstrong. I can not sing its praises enough. It repels liquids like no tomorrow and cleans like a dream. Just another alt for people if they want to research it.

I have DuraCeramic in the high traffic areas of my home... foyer, diningroom, gameroom... It's been down for over three years and still looks brand spanking new. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE my DuraCeramic floor. As for "spillage".... my floor is grouted just like regular ceramic and there is no way there could be any seepage. Hint on the grout.... I chose a dark grout that accents my flooring rather than the standard white grout. It looks awesome.

grout or no grout? that is the question

That was our second dilemma...grout or no grout, lol. When I think of grout, I think too much upkeep like regular ceramic tile. I believe Denise said there was no upkeep as long as you don't use harsh chemicals on the grout but we are considering no grout.

I appreciate the info/feedback!

We're doing the foyer (small area) down the short hallway to the breakfast nook, kitchen, small closet, powder room, laundry room and walk-in pantry. Overall about 550 sf.

thats alot of flooring ..DuraCeramic isnt all that thick.. i wouldnt use it where there's alot of walking. small area's would be good..

We have been told...

it would be fine by two different flooring companies. Are you worried about it cracking or something like that? The only mention of tiles breaking might be is if something was dropped close to a corner. Now I'll be worried.

No wearing down whatsoever. My B-I-L does flooring for a living and when I told him I wanted a nice looking, low maintenance, long lasting flooring that could hold up to very high traffic and a full size pool table. He said I wanted DuraCeramic. Car dealership us it in showrooms because it holds up year after year with cars driving, parking on it and tons of folks walking on it. I have it installed in my foyer, dining room and game room. Looks brand new in all areas and it's been over three years so far.

As for grout/no grout.... I chose a brown grout that compliments the flooring. In doing so, I have zero worry about discolored places along the grout. It always looks clean... even if I hadn't swept in a week.

It isn't that thick, because it isn't tile. I have it in 1000 sq ft of my house, lots of walking by teenagers, no problem.

That's ok harley...I'm a worrier by nature, lol.

kwillia and spike, thank you both for the input! We actually already ordered the material as we were told of a manufacturer price increase coming up soon. Hopefully it will look wonderful once it's down. :)

cleaning

Does anyone have tips on cleaning the grout? I have Duraceramic and I have lighter grout and I can't get anything to really clean out the stains.
