Finally! A light at 231 and 381

Yipee! Now that they have removed the bottleneck at 5/231 by putting in the traffic circles and thus removing the backups on 231, now we can have 381 backed up to the PG County line. What a waste of $$.

I agree, its not that bad there, not many accidents there, put in a traffic circle instead of a light.
Guess since the bypass was built and Hughesville has lost their only stoplight at Old 5 and Prince Fred. Rd. they want to make Hughesville a one stoplight town again.
What did Pepco workers complain again and Pepco is paying for a light like at Aquasco Rd and Eagle Harbor Rd.
I can think of a few other places in the area that need at light more then there, Gallant Green and Rt. 5 and Rt. 5 and Thompsons Corner Rd.

You guys really think it's a waste? During peak travel times in the evening you can sit there forever waiting to get off of 381 to 231.

After living in Aquasco for 30+ years, I think it's needed.

Now the one at Eagle Harbor Rd, not so much.

Completely agree - but their will be now, mark my words. :coffee:

We should pull stats from the last 5 years and I will bet in 1 year their will be more. :yay:

No, they will make up their money by putting a camera on the intersection!

I fully agree with the last 2 locations you mentioned. Also, a stoplight is needed at Route 5 and 488 (LaPlata Road). Because northwest-bound drivers on Route 5, have an obstructed view of traffic coming towards them across the median, and can hardly see when to turn Left safely south onto 488.

Um, there IS a stoplight at 5/488. For the southbound 5 & 488 drivers. Northbound 5 drivers don't need it because #1, there is a 1/4 mile long acceleration/merge lane there for the people coming off 488 & #2 there is NO obstructed view for the northbound 5 drivers and besides, it is not the northbound 5 driver's responsibility to avoid the 488 merging traffic, it is the 488 people's responsibility to accelerate and merge with traffic as they are able to in a safe manner. If they cannot merge safely, in the 1/4 mile of acceleration lane, then they need to turn in their driver's license, sell their car and hire a taxi because they obviously are too dumb to drive.

Only thing I see wrong with the 488/5 intersection, they need to make the merge lane a little longer for people coming off 488 and going southbound on 5.

Thanks for the comment -- but I had in mind, drivers on Route 5 coming from Hughesville northbound, and wanting to turn Left onto 488 toward LaPlata on the blinking yellow light. It is almost impossible during evening rush hour, due to both traffic volume and because of a somewhat obstructed view. But again, the region has many other similarly dangerous locations, as was mentioned here.

It's a blinking red light, for left turn on red after stop and in a short period of time the light does turn solid red and then to green so that you can make the left onto 488 safely on green light, so there is already a stoplight there.

Slowlane it looks like it's time for you to turn in your driver's license and donate your car to charity.
