There will be fireworks at the River Concert @ St. Mary's college on the 4th and at Freedom Fest @ the St. Mary's county fairgrounds on the 5th.

Freedom Fest is great, excellent show, very family friendly and St. Mary's finest do an excellent job of clearing the parking lot when it's over.
bring a blanket and some bug spray

YOUR ARE SUPER COOL THERE BUDDY! I too have a profession that I non-stop talk about. I dig in the dirt all day. I jam out all day to
"I like the way you work it
(no diggity)
I got to bag it up"
Then this guy at my digs told me he totally digs my shirt cuz my breasts were somewhat exposed and I let it go to my head and now I think he wants to bed me like in the dirt. My dad is a grave digger and digs his job. Sometimes I bleed it out digging deeper just to throw it away until I realized that we all have something that digs at us, but atleast we dig each other! My mother works at the Decentralized Information Group, DIG for short. Yea I think yall will dig this post

Just pull up to my driveway. My knucklehead neighbors who thinks it is cute too shoot off fireworks at 12am have been doing it for the past 2 days. If they do it tonight I am going to call the cops. I am tired of my youngest waking up scared. They are loud and one last night almost hit my Gazebo. That would of caught fire. I just so happen to look out of the window when that happen. I know once I call the cops on them it is going to be war between us. We are already had words with each other.

Can't beat DC for "local" fireworks. :yay:

Yes, the show is amazing but pack your patience because it's a MADHOUSE down there. It was well worth dealing with the crowds to watch the show around the Washington Monument - very pretty. The planes fly into Regan as the fireworks are all over the sky. My friend's son thought the planes were flying right through the fireworks. :lmao:

I went there 3 years ago when I lived in DC and we took the metro. Get there early and bring a blanket to sit on. A lot of people had picnics down there when we went. It's a fun experience for the family.

Are fire works legal in Md? My husband works in VA and I noticed there are a million fire work stand out there. I'd love to set some little ones off but i dont want to do it if its against the law, you know? We live in Hollywood.

The ones being sold are legal. Some that are brought in over state lines, not so much. Where in Hollywood?

Consumer Fireworks are Illegal in County
Amnesty Program Announced

The Fire/EMS Department is once again reminding Prince George’s County citizens and residents - all consumer fireworks are illegal. Prince George’s County has one of the strictest laws concerning consumer fireworks in the State of Maryland. The Fire/EMS Department encourages citizens and residents to enjoy their Independence Day Holiday at one of the many public or municipal fireworks displays.

The Fire/EMS Department is concerned about the potential for injury and property damage from fireworks. Every year, near the Fourth of July we see and hear of thousands of people injured and sometimes killed due to accidents involving fireworks in the United States. Sadly, many of these injuries and deaths involve children.

Prince George’s County has a law that is meant to protect you. There is no confusion about what is legal and what is not when in comes to consumer fireworks – our laws remove the confusion and make it simple:

All fireworks are illegal.

In addition to injuries and deaths, millions of dollars in property damage occur each year from fireworks. Prince George’s County laws remove any confusion about what fireworks are legal.

Plain and simple - ALL consumer fireworks are illegal.

From the smallest to the largest, all consumer fireworks are illegal.

Amnesty Program 2008

We encourage you to spend your Fourth of July Holiday at one of the many public and community firework displays and are also offering an incentive for you to turn in your fireworks.

The Bowie Baysox are “teaming” up with the Fire/EMS Department in Prince George’s County by providing free admission tickets as an incentive to surrender your fireworks. The Fire/EMS Department will provide you with free admission to a Bowie Baysox game at Prince George’s Stadium in Bowie, Maryland as your reward for turning in your un-used fireworks. In addition to family fun and a great baseball game – fans will enjoy a fireworks display after the game. Tickets distributed will be for the Bowie Baysox game on July, 20, 2008. For additional information about the Bowie Baysox, please visit their website at Bowie Baysox.

The Law

It is illegal for any person to manufacture, possess, store, offer for sale, sell, discharge, use, burn, or explode any fireworks in Prince George's County, Maryland, except that an authorized display may be conducted by a licensed pyrotechnic professional. Penalties for violations of the law include a fine of up to $1,000 and/or six months in jail.

Each year, thousands of people are injured and some killed in accidents involving the use of fireworks. These primarily involve those fireworks classified as 1.4g explosives by the U.S. Department of Transportation, commonly referred to as "consumer fireworks." Prince George's County has banned the sale, use and possession of these fireworks based on the danger to our citizens caused by the misuse of these products.

Amnesty Program

In Prince George's County, citizens may turn in fireworks without fear of being arrested or fined. Those desiring to take advantage of this amnesty must contact the County's Fire/Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Department Operations Center at 301-583-2200. A member of the Fire/EMS Department will come to your home or business and remove your fireworks, without you risking arrest and/or fine. The amnesty will remain in effect from today until game time, July 20, 2008. Citizens may also call the same number to report illegal use of fireworks in Prince George's County.

The Fire/EMS Department representative who comes to your home or business will present the incentive of Bowie Baysox tickets.

The combined, career/volunteer/civilian, membership of the Prince George’s County Fire/EMS Department look forward to spending an evening with you on July 20, 2008, at the Bowie Baysox game.

I know in past years they just asked for a donation. I don't know if that has changed. You could bring in coolers also but it is an alcohol free event. We havent been in a few years but we are planning to attend this year.:patriot:
