:lmao: Actually, the pad is a big enough slab of concrete that we can sit at a safe 30 feet from the fireworks and enjoy them without being blown up or burnt. We do marathon fireworks displays, starting just before sunset and ending sometime around midnight. (Once it was about 1 a.m. before we were done!) Fortunately we have very understanding neighbors.

Not sure where I am going this year. I'll have the chicklet and need to stay close to home. We leave for Disney the next morning!
There's fireworks every night at the Magic Kingdom, just stay home and get your rest because you'll need a vacation from Disney when your trip's over with.

For the last couple of 4th of July celebrations, I've gone out on my friend's headboat from Solomons. A beautiful pre-fireworks cruise up the Patuxent, front row seats for the show while floating on the water, and a moonlit cruise in the Bay afterwards. Ah...it doesn't get any better than that!

Fireworks are fun, but they can be dangerous. Believe me! One time my uncle Stanley fired off some bottle rockets in my dad's camper and it was a disaster! Those things try to go a long way, but if something blocks them, they just keep trying til they explode. Also, the explosion can spark fire on draperies and blankets. I would say do NOT fire bottle rockets in a camper, tent, or sleeping bag. You WILL regret it.

I did the DC thing for many years. I got tired fighting the crowds. Solomons and a big ice cream cone work for me. They shoot the fireworks off from a barge in the river. It's a pretty good show.

They have a pretty good show and if you can get on base at the Solomons Rec Center, get a seat by the pavillion at the playground. Perfect.
