I think that was the first year we had moved into our place. We were all waiting out on the pier and saw nothing. Poor fellas.

Fortunately, nobody was seriously hurt. But the next year is when I think they moved the fireworks to the barge.

If you have a military ID or a contractors ID you can get onto Bolling AFB. I go there every year and I think I have the best seat in the house. There are no crowds and you can picnic in the field next to the water. When its all done, take Suitland parkway to either 4 or 5 to get you back down here to the south. Just a thought for the group.

Only problem is getting out when it's over. TRAFFIC.

Last couple of years, the cops have done a good job of getting folks out. You also have the advantage of dealing with azzholes instad of half drunk azzholes like you do at Solomons.

In addition, there are no trees. And from where Bolling is located, it is adjacent to Haines Point where the fireworks are displayed. And mucho police are around. One of the SP's would not let me light sparklers last year. Now that's security!

The River Concert had fireworks last night and it was my first time trying to take pictures. The fireworks weren't very spectacular, but my pictures turned out ok...I was pleasantly surprised. Here are my best ones
