In my younger days, I worked security when the concerts came to town. All of them had issues.
For the black shows, you generally had fights based on someone being on someone else's "turf"

For the country concerts, you generally had fights because either somebody wanted to show how manly they were, or they thought somebody's girlfriend/wife was hot and decided to tell them.

For the rock concerts, there were fights. But they were either drunk or high, and didn't really have an answer as to why they were fighting.

Heck, I think the only concert I worked where there wasn't a fight was Neil Diamond :ohwell:

The worst scene I remember is when the Ghetto Boys were in town, and decided to stay in their rooms and party instead of doing their show. When it was announced they were not going to take the stage, chairs were ripped out, concession stands vandalized, etc. They were not a happy group.

Its First Instinct To Base What Has Happened On What Could Happen But Dont Always Assume...We Are Not The "Geto Boys"..My Groups Name Is Solo 4...We Are Civilized...We Have Done Plenty Of Rock Shows (Hexed Fest) And Had Fans Of Ours (Both Black And White) Attend And Nothing Stupid Happen..I Will Guarantee You That Nothing Will Occur From "Our" Fanbase But The Other Acts Who Knows..

I was posting social commentary based on recent events involving the fans and practitioners of this type of music and the last time that I knew an event of this type came to town. Most recent event was the Vibe awards. Somebody got stabbed because they were a dumbazz. Last time an event of this type happened in SoMD, somebody either got shot or stabbed, don't really remember, but I believe they were shot.
YOU were the one who assumed that I was making comments based on the race of the target audience of the announced event. I was not then, nor am I now, making statements about the events based on the race of the intended audience. I have always been making statements based on a proven track record for these type of events. Skeez, you should be ashamed of yourself.
Had you have posted something about a rock concert, you are correct, I would not have made the comments I made. The reason for this is that NOBODY HAS BEEN KILLED AT AN AWARDS CEREMONY FOR ROCK RECENTLY, and I have yet to hear of anybody getting shot at a party in the local area put on by a rock radio station. Yes, people have been killed at local bars in the 2+ years I have lived down here, but most of those have been over common bar fights and whatnot to the best of my knowledge.
When I was in college, I worked for Events & Conference Services. In other words, I was staff at many concerts on campus. We had all types of groups play. John Michael Montgomery, Little Feet, Megadeath and some rap / hip hop group that I cannot remember the name of (they were local to baltimore). The only problems we had at any of the concerts I worked was people at Megadeath smoking pot and taking videos and people at Little Feet taking videos. I did not work the rap / hip hop concert because I was out of town. At that concert, a group of guys had to be "escorted" off campus because they were out of control and making trouble. From what my manager told me, they were 1 "no" away from being arrested. They agreed to leave campus on their own, and they did so, so they were allowed to leave.

:lmao: Somebody with the ability to knock me down a whopping 1 power point gave me bad karma and called me a bigot. :roflmao: They obviously do not know me at all. I am not a bigot. I am an equal opportunity offender. You do something stupid, act stupid or say something stupid, and I WILL call you stupid. Regardless of age, race, creed, color, religon, sex or sexual orientation you will be called stupid by me (or an idiot, or ugly, or whatever the heck I feel like calling you if I feel you deserve it).

But then my buddy Kizzy came along and gave me some good lovin!  :huggy:

:bs: If you sat and listened to the right sampling of hip-hop, you'd change your tune (if you were open minded about it). Hip hop is some of the most witty music out there. And I'm not talking about Jay-Z, Eminem, etc, although they have had their moments. Hip hop is not defined by rap music. I love hip hop, it is my favorite music genre, if only because I like music for the production value, rather than the popularity factor.

I don't exactly have my head up my azz, and I have a teenager in the house. I have an open mind. I don't like it and I don't think it requires any talent whatsoever to produce it. So, you can take your bs flag and wedge it firmly your arse.

do you even know the process of editing or producing music? Do you even know what is envolved?

With all due respect, your teenager probably listens to what's on the radio, which can be crap. I just think it's ignorant to label an entire genre of music as talentless based on what you hear on the radio.

My daughter never listens to the 'radio'. She listens to CD's and XM. There is no way that I will allow you, my teenager, or anyone else tell me what I like to listen to or find stimulating. I listen to rock, some country, classical, opera, new age, ..I could go on and on. I give it all a chance. Hip hop AND rap are no talent genre's.

Doesn't matter to me how the music was made, as long as I like the way it sounds. I listen to 99.5 mostly (except now, since WASH-FM is doing their 24/7 christmas music :yay:). I don't care if it takes a lot of talent to make it or not. Kind of like going to a thai restuarant and people saying it isn't "authentic" so they won't go back. I've never been to thailand, I don't know what authentic is. I care if it tastes good. If so, I consume it.

2004 Grammy Winners
Both Album of the Year and Producer of the Year went to hip hop artists.

Although you may not agree that it takes talent to produce hip hop, the leading experts in the world of music do.

Popularity contest. No different than the cute little blonde in high school. The flavor of the day.

You assumed I hadn't listened to what is considered good hip hop. Are you in my house? Do you know what I'm exposed to?

Um, no, I recall stating that if you sat down and listened to the right sampling of hip hop, you wouldn't feel the same. I made the assumption that, as a teenager, your daughter listens to mainstream music. If I was wrong, sue me.
