Usually the Osprey are out of this area by late September. I saw one yesterday afternoon (Oct 15) hovering/hunting over the river here in Port Tobacco. Probably the latest I have ever seen one here.

I was thinking the same thing. I saw one munching on a fish at the SGI bridge last week.

Seems that it is usual for them to be there into October, rookies even later - Osprey Info

There's a pair close to where I live, but the nest is so high up it's hard to watch them. I've been following a web cam on Kent Island for 2 years. It's been so interesting watching them from the mating to the growth of the chick. They left around around the third week in September. I miss checking in on them every day.

NextJen,

do you go to Port Tabaaco and watch that Eagle nest?

right now one is on nest !!!!!!!

There are several web cams of birds of prey I will check on, usually during the spring to watch the chicks hatching and growing. My place is just across the river from that park. I’m blessed to get to see so many different types of wildlife/waterfowl here 😊

Was just out walking my dog (Autumn) here at the Port and saw an Osprey fly over with a huge fish in its talons. It kept flying around as opposed to landing with it, then I saw why. Two bald eagles were in pursuit. The Osprey finally dropped the fish and it landed in a yard. One of the eagles swooped down and got it. Both eagles flew off. I then saw another Osprey above. Both Osprey circled for a bit, I guess trying to regroup and hunt some more.
I’m very surprised they are still here. Sure hope they get on outta here soon.

They are getting ready to go to South America for the winter.
