First time foster

It sure as hell came on like the human flu.

It was tough watching her last night. She was really lethargic, sitting in the corner of out bathroom with her head held down.

I'd sit with her and pet her, and she's nuzzle her nose in my arm trying to fall asleep.

She ended up falling asleep on the floor of the vet's office too.

Sorry to hear about Buffy. Poor dear. I will hold good thoughts for your sweet pup.

Any word? That's awful scary. Hope she's doing better.

She's at the vet's office all day today.

They gave her food this morning, and so far, has kept it down.

Probably have another night of observation.

The vet doesn't seem to think they need to do surgery, so let's hope that's the case.

Sounds like you are going to be a failure at the whole fostering thing.:killingme But that is a good thing because it sounds like you are seriously attached. The foster we got our GSD from last week called herself a 5 time failure at fostering since she ended up adopting 5 of 6 dogs she fostered.

Yea, from now on, I'm adopting.

Hope the pup is ok Chris.

Thank you. We do too.

Well, she's been home for a few days now, and is completely normal.

She'll be on some meds for a few days, and even her big sister is laying with her and cuddling with her now.

What was the matter with her? Just curious if it was the Doggie Flu, verses an obstruction. Happy that she's home, and acting normal.

No blockage, nor surgery, just 2 days of fluids and some meds. Seemed to be a bad case of Gastroenteritis.

We have, however, come to the conclusion that Obamacare should cover pets as well.

Glad McPup is doing better. Its so hard when they are sick cause they just cant tell you anything and all you want to do it comfort them. Sounds like you two will be spending a lot of time together...in other words, you've already made your mind up to adopt. :)

She's been great.

The biggest thing was making sure our other dog would take to her.

While they aren't best buds just yet, they are starting to play. Her big sister runs out into the hallway when I get home, sees me, then runs back into the room running around the crate seemingly saying "let her out, let her out!"

Buff has been doing great with potty training. Accidents are becoming less and less, and the ones she does have are typically attributed to us forgetting to take her out on certain time intervals.

Unfortunately, she lost a bunch of weight being sick. When we brought her to the emergency vet, she weighed 37 lbs.....at 6 months old. Her big sis is 5 years old, and weighs 47 lbs.

Thanks everyone for the kind words. It means a lot.

Dang. Good luck. Looks a bit like our new one. Should have named it Nitro.

Congrats. Glad both dogs get along so well!

Congrats to you Chris!! They look like best buddies and just too cute.

:yahoo: Congratulations!

Thank you all.

She makes us laugh everyday (and sometimes curse), but yes, they are besties.

When I get home, the older sister (Xena) runs down the hallway to the bedroom door, then bolts to Buffy's crate as to seemingly be screaming "C'MON BUFFY, LET'S BUST YOU OUT OF THIS JOINT AND PLAY!!!"

She'll be getting spayed next week.
