They claimed that corporation profits were high enough that they could absorb a minimum wage hike.
Corporate profits *are* high enough that they could absorb paying their workers more. But they're not going to do that, they're going to raise prices to cover it. Those mansions and yachts aren't gonna buy themselves, you know....
I'm generally not in favor of limiting how much money people can make, but nobody needs 10 billion dollars to live on. One of the few times I agreed with Obama was when he said, "At some point you've made enough money." After that it's just greed and some psychological illness that keeps you hoarding it. (Of course, Obama didn't mean that and nobody loved to amass cash more than he did, but that's beside the point.)
Trickle down economics works, but the fat cats have to cooperate and actually trickle down. It galls me to see these turds whining on TV that they should be forced by the government to pay their "fair share" of taxes when they could certainly pay voluntarily, and they don't even pay their workers a living wage. They're just greedy aholes with a mental illness. Not to mention they'll simply hide their money from Uncle Sam to avoid paying anyway.
I find myself becoming more and more anti-establishment as I get older.
