All other red meat needs to be mooing and still bleeding when it hits the plate.

:fixed: and :yeahthat: I don't often eat steak but if I do I like it seared and nothing more. I'd probably eat it raw if I wasn't concerned with surface bacteria.

When in a restaurant I request "bloody".

I eat raw (high quality) red meat frequently. Knock on wood, I haven't been sick yet.

We should have a "tartare" party.

That's one of my guilty pleasures too. I love raw ground beef with a dash of salt. Has to be good beef, tho. Black Angus sirloin or ground round.

I always order mine well done even at fancy steak houses. If I get the prime rib... I ask them to cook it to well done before they bring it it me. It is how I like my beef.

I used to eat all my steaks well done and then one day I tried a nice medium rare steak OMG pure heaven! But if you dont even want to try it a tip for ordering prime rib @ a restaurant would be to order the end cut. It is cooked normally well done has all the seasonings and spices on it :yum:

Sometimes I add about 2 cups of water to a packet or two of Lipton Onion soup mix (depending on the size of the roast) and let it cook all day in the crock pot. Once the roast is removed, add some flour to the fluid in the pan to make some gravy and you've then got yourself some good eats.

I tweak this a little bit -- put the baby carrots and potatoes (with skin on is better) in the bottom of the crockpot. Place roast on top. Empty a can of Campbell's golden mushroom soup into a small bowl. Take one envelope of Lipton's Beefy Onion soup and stir it into the golden mushroom soup. Dump the soup mixture into the crock pot on top of the roast. (If you're real anal like me you can spread it around.) Turn on the crock pot (low) & go do something else for 6-8 hours (work, play, whatever). The roast practically falls apart on its own and the soups end up making a nice sauce that's just like gravy and really doesn't need any thickening at all.

This two-soup combination also makes a killer beef stew if you switch out the roast for beef stew meat & add some frozen mixed vegetables, although for that I put the stew meat in first, dump in 1/4 cup of flour & stir it around to coat the meat before adding in the rest of it.

As for steaks, everyone in the family likes medium rare and I get the ones that get too close to the flame & get charred! I can only eat them medium rare if I put lots of pepper on it!

That is probably THE #1 thing I miss about working in DC. That and the cookie dessert at ESPNZone. And having lunch with Catt & Dems. :ohwell: And Ollie's Trolley.

But I definitely miss M&S. I may have to make a road trip next week when I'm off.

I also use cream of mushroom and a packet of Lipton Onion Soup Mix. Add a little soy sauce, a little Worcester (sp?) sauce, salt, pepper, carrots, onions, sometimes mushrooms, sometimes leeks, taters, and a roast. Let cook all day in the crock. :yum:

Oysters........:dye:

My favorite were raw until I tried the roasted ones at the oyster festival this year. They were "rare" but had the smoky taste from the grill and the sauce was to die for (Texas Pete, garlic and butter) OMG...:faint: I licked the plate clean.

We had steak, It was bloody and delicious.

:yum:

Nicks had filet on sale last week for 4.99/lb.
