Football Pool - Week 1

Well, here we go...week 1

This week I have the Week 1 spread posted early, but expect it to be posted Tuesday or Wednesday each week after week 1. Picks this week are due by Thursday's kick off on Sept 8th. If you're later than kick-off to post your picks, you'll get the visiting teams for all games that week (MNF visitor as your five-point pick). Remember, two late picks for the season is elimination.

Also, if I make a mistake in standings or picks, please post it or pm it to me. I want it to be accurate in fairness to all. And if you have questions, please post or pm them.

Kick-off is Thursday, Sept 8th at 8:30 p.m. Let's have some fun, good luck all. Don't forget to highlight your 5-point pick of the week.

A couple of thoughts worth mentioning:
- You can change your picks up until kick off of the first game
- For the first week, you can watch any game on DirecTV channels 700 - up for free (without having the NFL package). I just received this flyer with my monthly bill.

I initially picked the Bungals in this game, and then changed it to the Browns. I just can't get myself to like them in any match up.

I also think the Browns and Lions are two teams to watch this year.

I will agree with you RAEL only if these 3 things happen:

1. By "teams to watch this year," you mean improving the product on the field and becoming a .500 team (or 9-7)...no guaranteed playoffs...
2. The Colt McCoy we saw in preseason vs Green Bay was the "Real McCoy" (sorry for the pun). He tore them up that game...
3. Stafford stays healthy all year.

If McCoy is the real deal...I predict the Brownies will win one game (out of 4) vs Baltimore and Pittsburgh - which is a HUGE step up for that program.

With the aging Steeler defense (average age close to 30 if I am not mistaken) and a defensive backfield that looks more like a sieve (Gay is horrendous), I would place my money on the Brownies beating the Steelers once this year. How I wish they would do it at Heinz Field too!!! The city of Pittsburgh would be placed on a suicide watch for a week with all windows in any building above the 3rd floor locked.
