foreclosed homes...

Does any one know if there is a way to check on local foreclosed homes without having to give all of your information to some company. I am looking in St. Mary's.

We have a neighboring house and the people said they were in foreclosure before they moved out. The house has now been sitting empty with no sign of anything for about a year now. I have friends who are looking to buy in the area and was curious how to go about finding anything out about this house.

It still has their name listed on it. They had been there for 22 years so it was sad. My first thought was they should of been close to being paid off but I guess they may have refinanced and took out loans against it.

You might want to try with a Realtor and see if they can find out. I am not too keen on Realtors myself, but if you don't have the skills or resources, I suppose they might try.

That is one of the many dilemmas on info websites... most of those foreclosure websites are setup just to reel in your info so they can sell it and spam you to smithereens... In fact, just about any website that is providing free info has the same agenda... there use to be a day when a person could search and find legitimate info websites. But with the evil google pay-click, it is ruined and mostly all gone. And any other search websites have followed in google's footsteps...

Also, if you could find out if the previous owners were financed thru HUD or VA, they use to provide their own forclosure listings. I haven't looked in years, so they may still list them on their own website.

If they are still listed, it's still in their names. The State is really good about updating their site. They usually do it same day or next day to a change. And the court case website...its updated within an hour usually.

That is a commercial website... forcing you into giving personal info before accessing pertinent information. I attempted a search on a particular county in NC and all I got was non-foreclosure listings... demanding to provide personal info on any click. Note the .com! Govt websites end with a .gov This is the REAL HUD: Homes for Sale/U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD)

Ok, but I never had to give personal info, all I did was click the "close window" button at the bottom of the popup page. And, I did get foreclosed listings for the areas I was looking at in St. Mary's. :shrug:

I did the same thing and the foreclosure listings popped up for me in Calvert county as well. However, they were the same listings that I had already found using sites like Zillow.com or Realtor.com - so I'm guessing these are all pulling from the same source of information. Additionally, even if you go to the HUD.gov website, their home search tools redirect to a .com address.

with that link I got 4 listings for charles co (all in white plains) and 3 listings for calvert county but 0 for St. Mary's no matter how many times I went there or refreshed.

I find it works if you click on the big red FORECLOSURE button (left of the WATERFRONT button), then click on the map location. It will bring up a search window with the county already filled in, just click Search.

Just got it to work that way. There is not anything listed on there that is not on realtor.com.

I just did it and got 5 pages worth for Chuck Co. When you click Foreclosures on the main page, you get a new window. Choose the county from the map and you get a pop-up. Enter your search criteria or just click the Search button to list all. Maybe a Java error or pop-up blocker preventing you from seeing it :shrug:
