Oh, Aps, I will never remember all that stuff. I guess I would be put up near the front.
Just remember.. ride your ride.. you don't HAVE to keep up with the pack if you feel uncomfortable.. they pack will wait for you, and if you are at the front, the ride leader will slow to your pace.. NEVER force yourself to ride to the point where you are uncomfortable.. always ride YOUR ride.

That's what I don't get. Riding is mostly about freedom, right? Maybe pushing through a turn or hitting some stretch of road at speed and turning around and doing it again, turning up a road that looks interesting or stopping somewhere that looks inviting. So what is the attraction of riding in a large group where you are so restricted in what you can do? Is it just a social thing?

The advantage of riding in groups is two-fold. Social thing to meet folks you won't otherwise ever meet and yes, thru word of mouth MANY non-forum people show up to these things. And when you have a seasoned SOMD rider leading the group such as Aps, us "outsiders" are introduced to roads/routes that we might not have otherwise ever found and are able to re-visit them on your own time if you wish. :yay:

And we wouldn't have to leave at the god-awful hour of 8:00 a.m.......Good idea, Aps!

The earlier that you leave, the fewer cagers on the road that have to watch out for us. :yay:

True that! A poker run is how I found the current area that I live in.

Yes, especially when you have a large range in skill level. Usually have frequent stops to compare mods and equipment, take photos and joke around.
The guy I rode with this weekend rides an FZ1 and he can leave me in the dust when the road gets twisty, but I like riding with him because I know I can ride as fast as I feel safe to do so. He likes riding with me because he doesn't get speeding tickets. One evening, he took off to run the road between our hotel and the Blue ridge parkway. 28 sharp corners in 2 1/2 miles, I had time to count them when we did the group ride Saturday.

Post some times? I work until 2:00am Sat. nite/Sun morn. Have to open at noon, but only to unlock doors. If I can't do brunch, maybe I can hook up somewhere else. Then again, I'm still breaking in the new bike 3500rpm/80mph max. :lmao:

Well, looks like nobody is chiming in so it could be just you and me and hubby, if he'll go. And I'm not going anywhere till like 10:30 so you'll just have to plan the entire even around that. Back to a muffin at Wawas.
