What tends to mess people up is that they rely on the mapping app on their phone for navigation. With data connectivity very good in most locations, many don't realize that the mapping app is dependent on data connectivity and fails quickly after the network is lost or re-gresses to a non-data level. If you go in the back-country, you should take a GPS with pre-loaded maps for the territory you are venturing into as well as some form of paper map.

If you go in the back country you should have a compass and a paper map along with your GPS.

Whats interestng is Maui has roads around 99% of the perimeter of the island, how ****ing stupid do you have to be not to pick a direction preferably downhill and just walk to the perimeter of the island? Follow a ****ing stream, for christs sake she was on a ****ing island.

Of course, you would walk miles to the island perimeter on a fractured leg... right?

Why not? When I was a kid, had to walk to school in 3' deep snow, up hill both ways, with two fractured legs. And it was like 110 degrees out. And we were only given one pint of water a week.

I'm a Marine, I would have adapted and overcame.

My hub is a Marine, too. And, I saw in another thread that you left home at 17. So did my hub. He finished high school ahead of time because he was way ahead of the teachers; as in read all the books at the beginning of school, so they said bye; you know it all. It would be great if y’all could meet each other. Y’all have a lot in common; except you don’t run 100 milers. :)

But, what are you trying to say, really? That a yoga instructor is equal to a Marine. Really? That is nonsensical, and kookoo. Just looking out for you.

So I just read some other stuff on the internet about this story and boy are they nasty. They're calling it fake news, publicity stunt for her yoga business, needed two weeks away, carrying on an affair with a local, etc etc. Humans sure can be unbelievably nasty sometimes.

Yes, they can. Good on ya for recognizing that. :)

That's a hell of a lot to put yourself through for some publicity for a local Yoga studio. I guess in their minds people are going to come from all over the world to practice yoga in Mechanicsville.
Really doubting that a person's ankles would get in this condition in such a short period of time. Unless she has diabetes or some circulatory issue. Heck, even on the show, "Naked and Afraid", those people that are left alone for 21 days to survive, in some of the most challenging conditions, on their own, don't come out looking like that. Also, there are reports that she took, "some kind of hallucinogenic drug, LSD, mushrooms, peyote, ayahuasca (which her ex conveniently has a website about, that he lives in Peru “guiding people” through their experience with that drug)." And looking at a map of the park. She would have had to come across open fields, residential houses, or power line transmissions clearings at some point when she went "off trail". The trail is a big circled loop which is only 6.2 miles. Hard to get lost there, even if wandering off trail. Definitely something fishy about the whole thing. And while from Mechanicsville, apparently she lives on Maui now with her boyfriend.
