i will never tell
Can anyone give me info on best place to get four wheelers for my 10 yr girl and my self ? I looked at smiley's they looked good and reasonable .
Also is there any places to ride them ? looking for a big trailed area to ride them not a dirt track. Is budd's creek a dirt track or a trail riding area for four wheelers ?

I know Power Motorsports (or something along those lines) just opened a huge new store on SB RT4 in Huntingtown.

Budds Creek is a MotoCross park only - you can only ride if you are going to race... up the road is SOMD ATV Park - it is a pay to ride - a bit of expensive, but you can ride there. There is also SOMD dirt riders... Southern Maryland Dirt Riders - Home.

Place to buy, Atlantic Cycle in White Plains, MD. - Honda, Suzuki, Yamaha and Kawasaki... all the big jap brands in all the colors!

I like Polaris - I buy from Gardiner Equipment in Waldorf, MD (See Dean Padgett - a good friend) - they have a great selection of Polaris equipment and I love mine (600cc Twin Utility)... my son is 11 and has been riding since he was 7... he is riding a 200cc Polaris and loves the bike.

There is an Artic Cat Dealer in Mechanicsville (south bound on Rt. 5) - Artic Cat is an EXCELLENT machine, I put it in the same class as a Polaris.

Good Luck! :howdy:

We just bought 4 of them we got 3 from Performance Cycle (or something like that) in Mechanicsville they were Artic Cat and 1 Polaris from Gardner (sp?) in Waldorf, we got a Atric Cat 500 for my hubby and a Artic Cat 400 for my dad and a Artic Cat 90 for my 5 y/o and a Polaris 500 for my father in law. Christmas was exciting for all. We have land in Ridge and 120 acres in Leonardtown for riding, we have not been to Budds Creek yet.
wayne was very helpful in Mechanicsville but as far as accessories we have found that online ordering is much cheaper

Theres a place near Fredericksburg VA, I would check out. Probably cheaper than around here and definitely cheaper than Atlantic Cycle.

If you're willing to drive to WVA, they are alot cheaper there and you don't have to pay tax!

ridersville honda in wv. not a bad drive at all (2 hours). worth saving over a thousand dollars (i saved $1400 on a rancher). They said 20% of their business comes from st. mary's county. Check out what you want, then call them, show up, they'll have it waiting, they go over everything and your going back home in no time. good luck

ATV trails near Budds Creek at Southern MD ATV Southern Maryland ATV Park - Wanna Ride?

New business called Powersports Inc opened in Huntingtown on RT 4 (Calvert county) POWERSPORTS INC - Kawasaki / Suzuki / Kymco / Yamaha

As for atv trail riding around here in southern MD .. it's mostly somebody's private property (farm or wooded).. I wouldn't suggest powerline riding and I know some people would say "everybody does it down here". If you don't want to be a law abiding citizen, then go riding on the powerline without your kid. FYI, There are private properties that powerline goes through so think twice. I have read from many atv forums that it's okay to ride on powerlines up in northern MD somewhere near Frederick. I haven't check out the laws for that area up there.

There are many atv trails up in PA, WV and VA.
Few MD state parks do allow atv trails.

There is also an ATV dealer at Rt. 5 and Rt. 236 (?) in Mechanicsville. Just south of the 5/6 intersection. Gumbo can tell you all about them.

BTW - stay away from the larger Korean made bikes... a friend of mine tried to save a few bucks and even though it is put together OK it is one of the most unstable-ist POS I have ever seen.

The mini's are OK - 50cc and lower as a starter, but the larger 150+ cc bikes are really stiff and unstable.

As far as power line riding - in Charles County they can (and most of the times will) seize your ATV... in SOMD, the power lines are SMECO property and they are not tolerable of ATV's

In Western Maryland (especially PA) it is more accetable and tolerated because of the type of people - it is really a way of life.

My son and I go 2x a year to PA to ride, and we do a minimum of 50 miles a day...
