Foyer Decor

If it were my hallway/foyer, I'd hang a pretty, simple chandelier, paint the walls and leave it at that.
:yeahthat:

...and if you get a chance, please paint my room yellow and trim it in the same brick red you put on the walls in the hall. Reverse that for my bathroom.

Thanks so much. :flowers:

I want to dress up my foyer a bit ... right now, it's just plain taupe walls, white crown moulding, and the oak hardwood floors. I want to repaint and put some artwork up, but not sure what kind. Anyone have suggestions/ideas or pictures of pretty foyers they want to share? The attached pictures reflect my current foyer.

Think color ... I want something kind of bold (like a nice, brick red or a deep, dark blue) ...

I like the white.

I'd wainscot: lower half gray, upper half white. Charcoal runner over the hardwood floor.
That sounds awesome. :yay: And I'd add a black chandelier to that. I like chandeliers.

What about brushed alluminum?
That would be nice, but if she had a charcoal runner, a black/charcoal chandelier would help anchor it and pull the room together.

But wait, there's more...

There's not enough room for a chandelier in the foyer. You'd hit your head on it. There's actually a cool light fixture there already that I can paint the stems that come down black, if I wanted to. :yay:

Here is a great picture of what I'm envisioning for the foyer. :yay:

And another ... but I'm still keen on a more slate color for the walls. I'm digging the ceiling stencil in the second pic, too.

JMHO but I think your hallway is too narrow for the wall lights, or dresser thing.
Maybe some black & white "Escher" for the walls.

I don't really want the lights, per se ... it was more the color scheme/decor that I like. The black stained stairs and bannister, the white trim (though I like the crown dark, too. :yay:) It's mostly the color/paint scheme that I'm looking at. The artsy-fartsy knick-knacks aren't of concern.

I think that would look good.

I pulled my neighbor's friend who helped me with the family room design over last night to discuss options, colors, ideas, etc. and he's loving it, which tells me it's a good idea/vision (cuz he's gay and has good taste ). :yay: I'm undecided on the trim being painted black, though. With as many doorways as I have in that hallway (six total -- two closet, one bathroom, one guest bedroom, front door, and french doors to office) plus the crown moulding and baseboard trim ... that's a LOT of black trim ... busy. :ohwell:

Here's another good image of what I'm envisioning, but with a gray paint vs. yellow/taupe.

Here's the color for the hallway and foyer. I think we'll continue this same color or a shade or two darker into the kitchen. There's not a lot of wall space in the kitchen (it's mostly cabinets and appliances) so the darker color won't make the room seem small. It's mostly for the backsplash area and the breakfast nook walls. :yay:
