Free to a good home!

Recently I had twins and my dog is not getting the attention he deserves. If anyone is looking for a very loving dog or knows of someone who is please let me know. I really want to avoid taking him to a rescue. He is a male english bull dog/ puggle mix and will be two in May. He oddly looks like a tiny boxer. He is very loving and playful! He is not fixed and does have cherry eye which has not affected him in anyway. He is also house broken.

Ok, check your messages. We may be interested.

Ive got my hands full with my own bulldog and boxer, but I'd love to see a pic of this guy anyhow. He sounds super cute.

Why is it when someone has to get rid of their dog, all the animal nutters want to pitch a fit? If she can no longer care for the dog, that's just the way it is. Why second-guess her and try to make her feel guilty when you don't know her situation?

That drives me ####ing crazy. It makes me want to get a dog, just so I can give it away.

What breed are you going to get?
We love Labs and Goldens here.
Will it be good with cats?
Male or female?
We like females.
Free?

Why are people saying that dogs don't demand that much attention? I walk Apollo four times a day, about an hour or so total. I spend probably another hour or so playing with him throughout the day. When you have an infant, two hours a day of not-them time is not going to happen; now double that infant load and it's impossible.

Because when I have a pet, it is for the duration of their life. I dont think pets are disposable, sorry!

"Disposable" means you throw it away, not find it a new home.

Think about it this way: you have a child that you cannot afford to feed, clothe, and shelter. Do you keep soldiering on and let the kid starve and die of exposure, or do you try to find a foster/adoptive family who can care for it?

Re-homing a pet is the same concept. If she didn't care for the dog - if he were "disposable" - she'd take him to the pound and have him gassed. As it stands, sounds like he's going to become a member of the Desertrat family, where he will be very happy and well cared for. WIN!

She is giving it away FREE, so basically its disposable. She had him on craiglist, (or another site, I saw the post and photo), I guess she got no inquires, which is surprising because I sure someone would have snatched him for a bait dog.

She didnt indicate she cant afford the dog or the kids, she said she didnt have time for it.

Again, I believe an animal is forever. I make time for my family pets, work and friends. Its called life!

I agree with you. It seems she is trying to make other arrangements and she could have just dumped the dog at the shelter, no questions asked. But who knows what his fate would be after that....

I've mentioned before that my father is sick on this forum. I went to visit him today. He is having a difficult time getting around and my step-mother recently hurt her back taking care of everything the way she has been. She is trying to get Nemo (their Pug) out and has admitted this has been difficult for her. We offered to take him to our house but she doesn't want to take my father's dog away - even for a few weeks at this point in time. We'll make other arrangements to get him walked at his house.... but.... things do happen and sometimes pets get put on the back burner... it is sad but the reality. Right now, she is full-time with all this and she is not a pet person so it has already been decided that if Nemo outlives my father he will live the rest of his days with us. If it all gets to be too much for her, he will live with us. I will love him even if his bug eyes freak me the hell out. :twitch: But if you love your pet and you can no longer care for him/her/them, part of that is making other arrangements when you have to.

Good luck and I hope you find your pet a wonderful home.

And if she were selling it you'd be all uptight because she's trying to make money off of it.

As far as her not having time for it, perhaps you ignore your pets and never play with them or walk them but others actually spend time with theirs. Or it's possible that you ignore your child or husband in favor of the pet - who knows? Most of us only have so many hours in the day and those hours get allocated in order of priority. Her priority is her children, which normal people feel is appropriate. Your mileage may vary.

At least she's trying to find a home for the pup instead of taking it to a shelter or worse leaving in on the side of the road. She probably feels bad enough as it is.

I walk my dogs right to the sliding glass door and tell them to go outside to play. I also walk them to the door and tell them to go out and potty. I am a bad dog mommy!

It might not be the best time to make a big decision like this

And

People adjust and pets adjust
