Frozen breakfasts

No kidding. I've got all the kids coming home in October and I know that there will be a biscuits and sausage gravy morning because that's my son's favorite breakfast. We open up the biscuits, then top them with scrambled eggs, then dump the sausage gravy over top. :yum: but heart attack on a plate.
:twitch: Please do not say you use whomp biscuits.

I never had Creamed Chipped Beef until my husband made it for me AFTER we were married. My father use to make Creamed Ground Beef and for the longest time I thought THAT was Creamed Chipped Beef. I didn't know.

In fact, the first time my husband made it I asked him, what the hell is THAT stuff in there, lunch meat?

What's a "whomp" biscuit? Like Bisquick or something?

We used to use Grands corn biscuits, which were the best, but I don't think they make them anymore. So I'll probably have to get ambitious and do scratch baking powder biscuits.

Those biscuits in a tube you peel then whomp on the counter to open. :twitch:

My grandfather used to make that on nights when my Mom and Gran were working and he had to babysit me. He called it SOS :twitch: and it was the only dish he knew how to make.

Grands do okay because they're nice and big. The teeny Hungry Jack biscuits should be outlawed.

OK, I understand people are busy and making real biscuits can be time consuming. My tip for you, Pilsbury makes frozen biscuits. Blue bag in the freezer section, get "Southern style". Your kids can thank me later.

As I used to say to my son:

Hey, you either want biscuits and gravy or you don't.
I would rather go to K_Jo's for aged chicken night than eat a whomp biscuit.

Okay, my sandwich experiment isn't working out too well. #2, with the wheat bun was like pressboard.

I think the casserole idea was a good one. I'll try that this weekend.

I make a frittata with 8 eggs, jalepeno cheese, mushrooms and whatever else I have on hand. I slice it into 6 pieces and reheat in the microwave.

I asked the wife of an older friend to write down her biscuit recipe for me:

1. In a large bowl, put as much self rising flour as you think you'll need
2. Add a little bit of baking powder
3. Stir in some oil or crisco
4. Add enough milk or water to make a dough (don't over knead it)
5. Make balls from the dough and flatten a little bit (If you can't make to balls, use a teacup)
6. Place on pan and bake in a HOT oven until done

She's been making them for 40+ years so it's second nature to her. Myself, I'll have to try measuring to come up with amounts and times. Plus my mom always "cut" the flour in with two knives, before adding any liquids.
