So far there have been only two (yes democrat and republican)... and they haven't been doing too f***kin good for the last century or more. So the ONLY way.. In the last 70 years the most the Green's have managed to tally is the Mayoral offices in a few small, yet super powerful dens of political power like Sevastopol California and a city councilman or 2 in Oregon and Minnesota.

Perhaps you can explain, use small words if you need to, how the living hell you can get anyone to buy that any party that sends Cynthia McKinney out as their presidential candidate is viable for anything other than being parodied on an episode of South Park?

Are you saying that the Green Party is not just to the right of the Socialist Party or are you saying that they are, but since you like socialism, you're ok with that?

Actually, my father is on Medicare with terminal cancer and they paid for some really expensive new drug that has extended his life. Personally, I wouldn't have taken the drug because I think that would be selfish of me. I want Medicare eliminated even though it would negatively affect both my parents as well as myself in the future. I want SS to be eliminated even though I know it will negatively affect me in the future. I want the military to cut the budget (smartly, not with this stupid across-the-board cut) even though it will negatively affect me. I know what all this socialist stuff is and I don't want it because the country is getting ready to fail because of it. Socialism is an unsustainable system and will always lead to eventual collapse.

I'm willing to sacrifice for what I believe in. The problem is that most people are not willing to be negatively affected now even if it means that they are going to experience extreme pain in the future if they don't. Most people can't look to the future. They want their stuff NOW!

No worries, I do agree that things currently are not working. I am just tired of the party mentality. Every time a politician speaks it sounds like they are just regurgitating passages from their parties handbook and I am left trying to figure out if they have the ability to think for themselves. Even if they do have an independent thought they are scared to say it because they might offend their mindless, party line drones. Both republicans and democrats are to blame for our current situation and every time I hear about a tea party representative they are trying to block anything from being done. Next election we need to completely clean house and get rid of all the incumbents. Let our message be clear, if you are unwilling to work together and compromise we will get rid of you. We have all been held hostage by this unwillingness to work together and now we are paying the price for letting this go on for so long.

I share your sentiment, but the Green Party does not have the right solution. You should check out the Libertarian party or look for Republican/Democrats that lean that way. A lot of our problems could be solved if we just embraced the message of individual liberty and responsibility like our founders did.

That will mean a change in the role of government, which would result in the end of many federal jobs. However, less government opens up much greater opportunity for you to make something of yourself without being dependent on the government for a paycheck. Short term pain for long term gain.

Government workers that hastily fight to keep their jobs without looking at the big picture are selling themselves short. They are dependent on politicians who promise them their jobs. Dependency is the path to slavery. Not saying that that is specifically you or anyone else on the forums, but just something to think about.
