I don't think people are actually threatened by Gay people. It is unatural, and anything out of the norm can upset them. Man was made for a Woman, and vice-versa. Homosexuality is not normal. There is nothing that anyone could say to me to make me feel any different, and I think that applies to anyone who feels the same way I do.
Jesus would say, hate the sin, love the sinner. - correct.
Put in simplest terms, we are not condemning the individual, merely pointing out what they are doing is against God's law. Jesus would say stop sinning, I forgive you for what you have been doing, but stop.
But you are correct, this person is trying to confuse the issue with the old Hebrew law and it's punishment and the new covenant. Under the New Covenant, the rules didn't change, just the punishment.

With that established, they were fine with a moral code that addressed a wide range of behaviors: acceptable & NOT. (Take a close look at the Judeo-Christian core found in the vast majority of our early state constitutions).
As we have moved farther away from that code of ethics, we have to argue all the more with idiots who would prefer a atheistic/marxist code of "ethics."
So...those who say "well Jesus didn't condemn gays..." could just as easily say that Jesus didn't say anything about the Western Hemisphere,...thus we don't exist.
We have to go by the morale code he reinforced: and that included severe punishments for homosexual behavior and forgiveness for those who REPENT.
Lets face it, none will repent unless the Spirit provokes their heart. Will weak-wristed "anything you do is fine because God loves you" actually bring repentance? "MAY it never be!" says St Paul many times. So that leaves only ONE path: teaching (exhorting) what is right, cutting off what is wicked (dead...things of this world)....and a DESIRE to please GOD, not man.
So if is "popular" to preach tolerance, and things that tickle your ears...you will have no part in the kingdom> That is not my opinion, that is scripture.
Dump our heritage, reinterpret scripture, babble about OT laws that don't apply to gentiles, and sing "all we need is LOVE!" at the top of your lungs:

The Bible and Christianity isnt' based on hatred... you try to justify it with the Bible, whatever... I disagree... its fine... I dislike some people, but I dont try to throw the Bible up in defense of my own shortcomings. I find that repulsive. Just saying. God and the Bible was about love and sacrifice, not about hatred and ALL of us are all in the same boat.. being sinners. Two adults (not rape) in consentual sex is not a crime. We'll have to agree to disagree...

When was the last time a news outlet reported about any other couple getting engaged at the White House? What makes this stunt newsworthy? I mean if everyone wants to accept gays as mainstream, then why the special report about an seemingly everyday occurrence?
