Gender reveal party does not refer to what I briefly imagined it might.
..
Seems like this kind of party could be used for gift extortion, but that depends totally on who is throwing it and how it's done. My first inclination is going to be to take a gift, no matter how much the person claimed they didn't want one, but I guess that my problem.... If you want to do it and don't want to put your friends into the "awkward gift thing" why not just have a party with no specifically named purpose and just happen to decorate in pink or blue or bring out a gender reveal cake in the middle of it?
I miss the good ole days when folks used to wait until the baby was born to find out what it was and that meant fund "baby pools" where we'd try to guess the gender and birth date.
So what kind of gift would you think you're supposed to bring...something for the parents or for the baby? I'm asking because I'm not sure why anyone would assume they'd need to bring a gift. I've had two gender reveal parties, never mentioned anything about gifts and luckily nobody showed up with one. If someone had brought me a gift, I would've felt just as awkward and would've felt obligated to give them a gift in return
These kind of parties are becoming pretty popular and I think people like to call it a "gender reveal party" because they're excited to reveal/find out the gender of their baby. And now that you know gifts aren't 'typical' or 'expected' (in most cases, though I'm sure there are some greedy ass people out there....jerks!), don't bring a gift
Gender reveal party does not refer to what I briefly imagined it might.
I had no idea such things (i.e. what it actually, apparently, refers to) existed. Learn something new every hour...
I thought this was some sort of perv cross dressing transgender guess what's in my pants thing
I'm not bringing a gift, I asked if she wanted me to bring anything like food and she said absolutly NOT and just to bring ourselves which I think is a pretty good certainty I shouldn't bring a gift.
My friend waited until she had her baby to find out. They were tickled PINK!
If we have a third we'll wait, because that in and of itself would be a surprise! We plan on TWO babies, that's it, and I'm baking our second one right now
Wow, i am glad this thread worked out the way it did, that is a relief. I was thinking along the lines of Gilligan, and itsbob. Had never heard of the term gender party, till this thread.
Happy Anniversy!
