" WASHINGTON - Maybe you've already seen one lurking near your computer or clinging to the wall of your bedroom. Stink bugs are likely to come roaring back in 2013.

"We're really expecting a bigger crop of stink bugs in the region coming into 2013," says Mike Raupp, entomologist at the University of Maryland. "

I have :(

I didn't know about this plague, but when I found one on my computer monitor last week, I gathered all my little bugsmashers around, and made them briefly study the bug. I described, in detail, its carapace as I showed it to them, having them visually trace the ridges, and legs, so they would recognize one when the saw it.

Then I told them, in no uncertain terms, that these bugs were sacrosanct, and they are not to be killed in or around the house. Not because they're our friends, but because the stink makes daddy vomit uncontrollably.

Then - knowing my children's propensity to do the opposite of what I tell them - I threatened to make anyone who kills one eat it.

I dont get it, and Im not complaining,
but for a couple years we couldnt keep them out of the house, without any stretching of the truth, I would end up killing 15 to 20 a night. all winter.

this year, I have had one. just one in the house.

guess the house has become too crappy for even a stink bugs to live in.

might have to rethink the teardown and rebuild in spring.

per the article:

" "We're really expecting a bigger crop of stink bugs in the region coming into 2013," says Mike Raupp, entomologist at the University of Maryland.

The D.C. area caught a reprieve from the annoying pests last year because of a stink bug population collapse in late 2011.

"What this meant is there were far fewer stink bugs coming out in 2012," Raupp says.

"Our breakout year was 2010 when we had enormous populations of stink bugs throughout the region ... 2013 may look a lot more like 2010." "

..... So get your bug killing hand in shape and get ready to do battle .....

There are only two types of bugs that freak me out - Stink Bugs and Cave Crickets. They can both make me run and scream like an idiot. I hate them. :shocking:

yeah but do they die in there? They seem to last forever in the house with no food/water.

 Dunno. They never find their way out, and I toss the bag, doesn't really matter if they are dead or not. As long as I never see the beggar again.

You throw the bag out each time you vacuume a SB? If not, the SB's are in there and the next time you vacuume it would blow the funk around. :cds::cds::cds:

 No, I don't toss it after every catch. And I've never gotten a stink next time I use the vacuum.

This explains things.
Great, now I can look forward to the invasion again next year...
There are drawbacks to living in the woods, stink bugs and spiders are a couple of those drawbacks
